Game System for my Campaign...

First Post
Hello all, I'm an RPG Fan and aspiring Game Master who has recently began working on a Game System for my (As-of-yet Unnamed) Campaign Setting, and I want to present my ideas to you for critiquing, revision, and assistance. First off, I want to use a Class-Based System, but would like to incorporate Skill-Based Elements within it. Also, the General Skills in my game are condensed for simplicity; For example, instead of having Spot, Listen, etc., you have one Perception Skill. Here's a list of General Skills so far:
-Acrobatics
-Alchemy
-Athletics
-Blacksmithing
-Craftsmanship
-Enchanting
-Engineering
-Hunting
-Intimidation
-Intuition
-Mysticism
-Perception
-Prospecting
-Speechcraft
-Stealth
If you have any Skill ideas, let me know. Also, each Skill has it's own Level, so Ranking Up a Skill takes longer; I would like to limit each Player to choosing seven of these Skills, which they will automatically start at Rank 1 with, and the other Skills can only Level up to Rank 1, but can never surpass it.

Why are some super specific, and others are generic? Why have a "prospecting" skill, which is super focused, sitting alongside a "Perception" skill, which every pc will take?

In other words, you need to decide whether you want a huge skill list, and get super focused, or a broad skill list, in which you need to figure out what's vital to your game.

Also, why not just use a pre-made game? A lot of fairly new GMs decide to homebrew their own system, which, while fun, is often not nearly as fun for the players. You can have a lot of fun using a premade game, and then houseruling it until it becomes your own creation - a lot of gamers here have done that, and really, I'm in the process of doing it myself!
