I understand the feeling there and hopefully I be able to discipline myself enough to begin working out again when I leave for college next week, of course it's a double course for someone like me that's trying to gain work in a geek intensive occupation.

No thin or chunky and pasty nerd here. I may be a bit on the pale side, but I've been hitting the gym five nights a week for a year and a half now, and it shows. And with the former ROTC player moving cross country, I now have the distinction of being the one truly in shape person in my group. Now if only this would correlate into the one player I'm interested in... but she reads these boards so.... ;)

Look at the fan base for other events, football, baseball, hockey, auto racing, I think you will find that the percentage of body shapes are about the same as gaming. Maybe gamers have a dress code but then so do most ofter groups.

I just think it is the way of the world.

Interesting group. I take it your avatar is a self-pic? If so, I have to say that you're quite pretty.

Yeah. That's me. Why, thank you. >blush<

I put up a self pic because the anonimity of the net gets to me sometimes. I like people, and I like to be able to put faces with names...mainly because I'm not very good at remembering names.

Also, all this talk about gamer self image, I thought it would be cool to put a face with my name, and really hope others do the same. I really doubt the majority of us, if any, fit the various stereotypes.

Of the people who have self pics as their avatars, I have not yet seen one who looks like the stereotype, and they all seem to be fairly good looking people.

There's always this site that someone set up, although it never got quite as many photos up as I'd have liked to see. I think it's kinda interesting to put a face with the anonymous usernames. I'm on there, anyway, on page 2.

I'm on there now too. Page 3. :)

LOL, yeah, me too. That's one of the reasons I use my real name here instead of my old alias that I used to toss around.

Then again, I don't use my picture as an avatar. Although I could, if I cropped one of the pictures I have, I suppose...

there are some pot bellies in the group, just like at any job or group, but i look at us and see actors (tallarn), mucular types(zhure), military men (olgar shiverstone, shark), cops(meg hall), artists(too many to name), teachers, athletes.....

>pose<

Heh, I'm muscular AND pot-bellied.

Something that would be incredibly unimaginably strange and hilarious: Guy wins the Mr. universe competition, gets interviewed on how he works out:

Interviewer: So, how is it that you are able to stay in such peak condition and beat out all of the other huge nordic-looking guys in the competition?

Dude: Easy. *holds up dice bag* I slay dragons every sunday!:D

Well, yeah, there's a reason the rest of us don't put them up. :)
