Djeta mi'dear...hell yeah!

After spending most of my highschool years getting ragged on my my grandmother for not looking like the typical Asian girl - I feel vindicated! Well - except that they keep making the clothes for the waifish girls!

:D

Though damn some of those actresses - they look like they are in desparate need of food. The only way they seem to keep any kind of womanly shape is through plastic surgery.

Of the people who have self pics as their avatars, I have not yet seen one who looks like the stereotype, and they all seem to be fairly good looking people.

It's good to see that we got ourselves some pretty ladies here on ENWorld. Helps remind people that you don't have to be a fat, greasy guy to be a gamer....besides the fact the pretty ladies are just nice to have around.

Y'know, all these self-avatars, talk about 'this is how I really look' etc. gets me wondering...should I post a pic of myself?.....nah. Too lazy right now. Plus whatever digital cameras and scanners we have lying around the house (brother is a big computer nut) are a bit screwy, so that would pose a problem anyway...and it seems a bit wierd anyway.

But I can tell you the who I've been told that I look like. Lets see...a year or so back I was told that I look like one of them boy band guys:rolleyes:...forgot which one, but there was some resemblance. Then I was told that I look like Pacey from Dawson's Creek, and that I act a lot like him, as well. I've never seen the show, so I have NO idea whether that is a good or bad thing. But then again, I hate being compared to celebrities.

By God, there's a joke there. It's just waiting, eagerly, to be typed. But I won't say it, oh no...

but I'm thinkin' it.

I hope you're not intending to steal my schtick, Patrick.

Lets not get carried away with this stero typing thing. Push comes to shove...we are all unique. (some more than others) Stereo typeing is wrong to a degree but often there can be a pattern seen ..thus the stereo type.

I'm a bitter negative person...so what. I've been known to smile once or twice a year.

5 feet tall, so small that people say slight breeze could blow me over and unlike most Asian women I inherited a generous chest, hips and a butt (thank you J-Lo for making those attributes popular!) so I am really the opposite of the stereotype.

Why, oh why did I not run into you at a game shop while we were both in Houston? :D Where did you shop BTW? Nans? Third Planet or Gamesmasters?

As to stereotypes? I think the stereotype is changing. With MMORPG becoming a bit of an obsession for a large part of the population, and fantasy and comic movies becoming mainstream it is not such a stigma to say one plays DnD. My players over the years have included a model (not famous), a lawyer, a schoolteacher, a 350 lb man with a better social life than many, an otaku who was obsessed with hockey, goth princesses, several IT professionals with very active social lives and one even had a tan. We have been pretty, practically deformed, geniuses and somewhat less than average, popular and shut ins, artists and barbarians.

I don't think I fit the mold, at least not comfortably. I'm 5'11" which for a hispanic is pretty tall, broadly built and muscular, but with the bit of a paunch most of America is saddled with. With a well trimmed goatee (van dyke, actually), good clothes, and fastidious hygeine, I am pretty socially acceptable. I'm not a pretty man, nor am I the Elephant Man. I can be most charming when I choose to be, and have often been described as gregarious, urbane, sweet and confident. Even with all of these traits however, I read comics, collect anime, play DnD on a regular basis, watch Cartoon Network more than Friends and spend most of my time alone. When not doing these thing though I play volleyball, kayak, shoot ppol, drink fine wines and liqour, listen to jazz, and go to as many concerts and plays as I can.

If only Vin Dielsel could really make DnD cool, and then the stereotype would fade.
