[Gamer's Bag] GenCon Products List Updated

Some bags just monogrammed with a plain d20 might sell. Or how about a bag monogrammed with three d6's, all showing a '6' as if you just rolled an 18--for everyone's favorite D&D stat value.
That's a good idea.

4000 bags? Wow. I bought one from you last year (the "Pox Boy" bag); maybe I'll pick some up for my kids at GenCon this year. See you there!
We remember that bag, we look forward to seeing you there. :)

I think a display case with all the different options is a great idea. Well, with a lot of the options, if they don't all fit. :D
I think we will definitely have to do something like this.

I'll also try to think of something very creative to order (like the bride and groom--those were cool!). You could make it well in advance, display it at GenCon, and then I could pick it up on Sunday.
Absolutely, in fact if anyone wants to order now and pick their order up at GenCon, we can do that.

Oh, and sell some bags with the ENWorld logo on them! I think you'd get a few sales of those. As long as Morrus approves, of course.
We could do that, pending said approval.

If you can do it, make one with the d20 logo on the front...

of course, you'll legally have to include the OGL on the back, and 5% OGC.

You can even use this as OGC:

"Big bag o dice can be used as a sap or opened to be used as caltrops."

:)
We've had a lot of inquiries about the d20 logo on a bag, but my attempts to get WotC to actually talk to me about doing have been totally ignored. I e-mailed Anthony Valterra and he never responded. We wanted to know if since there's no way to apply the license to a bag, if we could just enclose a paper copy of the license....and the Royal would definitely work as a sap, I've hit myself in the leg once with my fully loaded bag. Pain.

Just checked out your website and you got some nice bags, looks like I can add another purchase to my list at GenCon...see you there.

Look at the d20 t-shirts for an example of this. You will need to include the OGL on the dice bag (like the t-shirts have on the back) and they declared their addition to the section 15 of the OGL to be open content, thus making the 5% OGC limit. Personally I would include the stats for the bag on the front of the bag under the d20 logo as OGC instead.

Or is it just too close to impossible to include the OGL on the back of the bag? (even as a t-shirt transfer type situation)?

It would be impossible for two reasons: (1) the size of the bags would preclude actually being able to read the OGL and (2) the extra expense that would be involved would preclude us from wanting to do it, especially since we don't mark up monogramming (we have to outsource the monogramming).

However, if they'd just let us include a sheet of paper with it printed on it, that would be doable. We could include a sewn-in label that had the required OGC, that also would be doable. Now if WotC would ACTUALLY contact me back....:(

If you have the capability, you ought to be able to do it as a silkscreen or an iron-on. The OGL is readable on half-size paper - just look at Bad Axe Games for proof - and 5" x 9" is not a terrible size for a dice bag. Especially for the kind of gamer that is serious enough about the hobby to go to GenCon! It might be too small...

itchy trigger finger...I thought 'russ stopped you from posting twice in too short a time to fix this problem...

Here's an idea. Print the OGL for the bag on some material. Use that material as a liner inside the bag. Certainly the inside of the Royal bag is large enough, and probably the next size down. You can open up the bag, peruse the OGL, and grab your dice. Nice!

Paladin,
I went to your site to show my fiancee your bride/groom dice bag and I cannot get the pictures to bring up for some reason.

Another idea for a bag:

"DM Sap"

A circle with a line thru it, with
"Rules Lawyers" in it.

Make a Gen Con exclusive Gamer's Bag. Maybe use a special fabric that you can only get at the 2003 Con. Or maybe a cool logo that you can't get off the site.

Make a d20 bag...not the type that requires the OGL, but one that actually holds (maybe includes) a single d20. Functional? Not really, but quirky--and thus--cool.

Test something you've been considering but not sure about. Wondering if there's a market for Gamer's Bandanas? Or Gamer's Soda-Can Cozies? Try it at Gen Con.

Give me free stuff.

Lot's of Gamers bring their kids to the Con now. Make something for them. A brightly colored bag with a "Gamer Kid!" logo, or "My folks went to GenCon and all I got was this lousy dice bag!" (of course we all know they're the best bag out there!) How about a soft, pink or blue dice bag that says, "Baby's First Dice Bag" (with a note to parents that babies should not play with dice).

Market. Market. Market.

Schmooze! Work at becoming the Official Dice Bag of Gen Con. Give Peter Adkison lots of freebies. Make deals with White Wolf about putting clan/tribe symbols on dice bags.

Gen Con is Big Time. You guys are good. Show off and have fun!
