I'm off to work in the Boston area next week. Are there any good game stores (or book stores) in the area that I should be sure to check out?

Games-wise, I'm most interested in OOP stuff (AD&D, CoC, RQ, etc.) from 1985 and earlier, including minis.

Books, I'm always looking for good scifi/fantasy, literature (Melville, Nabokov, Borges, poets, etc.), good history sections, good non-fiction (science, history, etc.). Oh and ones that carry rpgs too :D

Any recommendations would be most appreciated! Thanks :D

For new games, Pandemonium, as mentioned by the previous poster, is probably your best bet. Not sure about their OOP stuff. They've got a good scifi/fantasy selection though.
There's nothing in Westford but you'll be close to Chelmsford and could try 3 Trolls http://www.3trolls.com/ where you may have some luck finding minis.
On your way between Cambridge and Westford, you could take a 20 minute detour down to Waltham... Outer Limits on Moody St may be a good bet for OOP and Danger Planet, just off Moody, carries new stuff and a decent minis selection.

Ditto on Pandemonium; I love that place. Other stores in Cambridge is Your Move Games, Games People Play (more of a board game shop) and (in Boston) Compleat Strategist.

Alan, drop me a line at kevin dot kulp at gmail dot com. I'd love to grab a drink or coffee with you.

Once again, Piratecat proves he is the official ambasador of the Massachusetts RPG collective. :D

Little do you know. In truth, I intend to zap him with a taser every time the discussion strays to older game editions!

Not that this worked on Diaglo. Hmmph.

Add another voice to the chorus singing Pandemonium's praises.

While you're there, get some Chinese food at Mary Chung's a few blocks away (unless it's Tuesday). Due to an old law that's still on the books for some reason, you are not allowed to leave Cambridge without trying the Suan La Chow Show there. Vegetarians and vegans *might* be able to ge away with a written warning, but don't quote me on that one.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. Juniper has offices in Cambridge and Westford, so I'm flying into Loga, but actually staying in Waltham on Monday and Tuesday nights (speaking to some folks at a min-conference there Tuesday morning), before heading to Westford, and then departing via Manchester on Friday.

My hope was to hit our Cambridge office Tuesday after the breakfast preso, then to drive to Westford Wednesday morning. Is that a sane plan, traffic-wise/snow-wise/etc.?

:p

As a vegetarian, I escaped without a warning, just barely. But the vegetable fried rice, etc is pretty good also. A friend once told me that the reason they like payment in cash there is that it doesn't leave a paper trail.
