We had pixies who were over-fascinated with sparkly/shiny things. When the PC's rewarded a large group of them for some info by tossing a small 10gp gem into the air, there was a large pixie scrum diving after it, wrestling for it, etc.
The pc's left with the gem occasionally popping into view as it left the possession of an invisible pixie, squirting into the air. When they passed through the same area several hours later, the contest for the gem had evolved into a quasi formal game, complete with sides and subsitutions, etc. The game has continued ever since, and the spot has become famous among the locals.
While travelling in a twisted region of Faerie (the PC's only had a couple ints that the place was tainted, and were really just more puzzled by them than anything else), they tried to start the same game up y tossing another gem. The look of horror on their faces when the tainted pixies started slaughtering each other in a most vicious manner to get the gem, was priceless. It got better when the pixies realized that the PCs probably had more gems, and turned towards them, eyes black and fierce.
