GameTap and Planescape

First Post
Don't know if anybody else has Gametap but it now carries Planescape Torment, BaldurGates, and Icewind Dales. There's a lot of other games too.
Just thought I'd mention it seeing as how much love for Planescape there always is - now I finally get to play it.

Yeah, they added like 5 D&D games in one week, declared it role-playing week, and had an interview with Gary Gygax on their gametap TV.

It was cool all around.

Why pay $20 a month to basically rent games, when you can actually buy them on cd for half that?

I mean, it's not like any of those games are rare or something...

It's $10 a month right now -- and the value would depend on whether or not they keep getting good games.

They offer a bunch of other stuff too, HoMM IV, Ultima 1-5, buckets of arcade stuff. If they have enough interesting stuff come out per month then I might stick it out.

There's a few reasons why I pay.
1. I don't (for the most part) want to play long games. I'm very happy sitting down for 30 minutes and playing some arcade game. Street Fighters, defender etc.
2. Some of the games, no I couldn't find. Most of those arcade games.
3. I get to try a game, not just buy it and then be unable to resell it.
4. To me $15 a month didn't seem bad. At that price even if I could find all those games I couldn't buy most of them. I just checked - Planescape sells on amazon for ~$23. That's a month and a half worth of my subscription.
Shrug. To each their own really, but it works for me.

For me it's the convenience.

I dont want to figure out how to get a lot of old PC games like Might and Magic IV to run on my puter.

I also dont want to keep a Genesis hooked up to my TV.

Now when I get a Wii, depending on the games available on their virtual console, my feelings might be different.
