Gaming Cruise

I can't help thinking that for the 'typical' role-player, gaming on a luxury liner in beautiful scenery is kind of wasted. I mean, what would most of us do? That's right, shut ourselves away in darkened rooms, and conjure vistas in our minds more grand than anything out of the porthole!

An All WotC Cruise Can Be Done

Hi Everyone,

I am the logistical/cruise side of ICE's new Cruise Convention. ICE's event has been designed to allow gaming to take place as part of a regular vacation. There is something for the whole family and the gamers get to enjoy a vacation that includes many like-minded folks and to spend quality time talking with and helping influence the future direction of the Guests of Honor.

The price is fantastic when you consider that it includes all food, all accomodations, ICE product, all events, all tips, etc. It is only $250 to reserve a space and the remaining $350 won't be due for four months.

As for WotC and/or the RPGA, we would very much like to see that happen. We are the same folks who organized the first CruiseCon back in the mid-1990s and that was RPGA and WotC focused. It was a a major success.

ICE has some of the best products in the market today and they were chosen to be the first manufacturer in the new CruiseCon era due to their love of their fans and their desire to really do something specal for their fans. What ICE has in store is amazing and I recommend you make plans to attend if at all possible - and if you haven't tried HARP yet, give it a shot.

Back to WotC and other companies. If you'd like to see your favorite company do a similar event, have them contact me or provide me with the name of a company contact that would like me to contact them. We have just started a new company called Deep Blue Events (deepblueevents.com should be functional in a few days) We have actually started a cruise only travel agency in support of this effort and have created a new economic model that makes it very affordable for you the gamer as well as affordable and rewarding for the manufacturers who will participate.

So, make yourself and your family happy - attend ICE's RPG CruiseCon this winter, or help us create a similar event for your favorite manufacturer.

Happy Gaming!

Thanks for the information, Gary. It sounds like an intriguing concept. It would be more appealing to me if the gaming was either more focused on d20 (which should be apparent as this post is on a d20 board) or more generic to give the variety enjoyable at most conventions. ICE products sound interesting, particualrly HARP, but I don't think that novelty is enough to carry the cruise. I'll look forward to some updates and further information on d20 or more generic gaming cruises.

Larp Cruise VS Rpg

I know there is larp cruise that goes out every year however Ive never gone on it. how does this one differ from that one - or is this the same company that does that one?

And this thing is leaving out of Houston rather than Florida, which means I could drive there rather than have to buy an airline ticket as well.

I'm going to have to give this some serious thought.

This is a cool idea!

I really like cruising but I don't care for the days at sea. So what better way to enjoy the days at sea then by role playing!

And, for a 7 day cruise , the prices listed on the site are pretty good.

I wonder if ICE will have some sort of intro type thing to try to explain or demonstrate to the non-gamers on the cruise ship what's going on.
