Gaming group in need of new game

Hello all, me and 4 friends have been playing dnd weekly for about a month now. We've all had tons of fun, but we have run into a problem. Our dm is moving away and we no longer have a dm to play with. None of us want to dm really. But we'd still like to get together to play something. I've mentioned magic the gathering but one of the players isn't much for it, do you guys know of any tabletop games, board games or otherwise, that would keep us entertained the same way? Something that doesn't need a dm, and that else can still have fun with? I can't wait to see the replies guys

Boardgames! Yes! There are so many options available that I think we'll need some more information.

If you want something D&D-like, you could go with Talisman or Descent.

If you like the cooperative aspect of D&D, you should look up: Pandemic, Forbidden Desert, Arkham Horror, Hanabi, and many more suggestions can be made.

If you're looking for something competitive, but not too competative, then something like Dominion, Alhambra, or Caverna might be more your style.

If you want like bluffing games, you might try Resistance, Coup, Love Letter, or Bang! The Dice Game.

There are lots and lots of options. Two things:

What kind of game might you be looking for? Something light or something heavy? Something with lots of bluffing and guessing, lots of or little randomness, lots of or little player interaction, etc?

Second don't buy anything without looking at reviews and taking into consideration your own desires. Dropping $70 on a game to find you don't like it sucks.

Well, I would like to find something heavy. Lots of player interaction, mostly looking for co op play rather than competetive, but if it's good we may make an exception. I've looked into descent. it looks like what we're looking for but I definitely want to look a little more before we decided right away.

Don't know if you are specifically looking for recommendations from users of this site..

Because if you want to know about boardgames, the place to go really is www.boardgamegeek.com where you will find info, listings, videos, pictures, forums, discussions, reviews and so on for, oh.. about 70,000 games :)

Enjoy!

I don't know of any board game that, on its own, is going to be so engaging over the long term as to keep you happy all by itself, week after week, month after month.

You might get that kind of interest in an outright wargame.

Three Dragon Ante, which might be discontinued, and Munchkin make for good D&D alternatives.

Or you could get the fifth edition Starter Set - which doesn't have a DMG, so GMing should be easy enough.

And there's always Risk! If you're not interacting in Risk, you're doing something wrong.

Sentinels of the Multiverse, perhaps. It's a card system, played between a group of players with decks to represent the abilities of their superheroes, against an enemy supervillain whose deck plays itself automatically - their cards tell you who to apply an effect to, among other things - with an environment deck that may or may not be helpful to you. There's several supplements for it, and I've found it quite fun.

Fiasco will last you for a while. And boardgames such as Sentinels of the Multiverse - see Boardgame Geek for some recommendations.

Out of curiosity why do none of you want to DM? Too much work? You like roleplaying? Because different tastes have different recommendations.

To the excellent suggestions above, I'll add:

Battletech
Crimson Skies (OOP*)
Car Wars
Stwr Fleet Battles
RoboRally
Frag!
O.G.R.E./GEV
CHAINMAIL/D&D Minis
HeroClix
