Gaming in Munich

Does anyone have any good places to go around here? Especially any gaming stores that might have books available in English. I've come to the conclusion that the Gamekeeper in Yorktown Mall, Lombard, IL (for anyone that might be reading this) is the absolute worst place for getting stuff on the planet. Hey, it's not like they're owned by WotC or anything...

Does anyone know how they use these keyboards? It's like they randomly move keys around (finally hit the y the first time!!! Zea me!!!) and through a bunch in just to throw me off.

If you don't mind waiting, there are a couple of good places to order gaming material in English. One is Amazon.de, which has a lot of WotC stuff and some of the smaller developers as well. Drawbacks? It takes 1-2 weeks, usually. Also, you have to know some German or someone who can translate for you while you order. Shipping is free if the total order is more than €30.

Another place that has everything, the people are friendly, and it doesn't take too long as long as you do not order any Pinnacle stuff (my last order took 6 weeks, while they waited for a Pinnacle product to come in, but they had Spycraft after 1 week). Again, you might have to know German... though chances are they speak English, so they can help you out.

The link: Pegasus.

Edit: Just thought of another ordering option that has come in handy for me. The Warehouse 23 which is run by Steve Jackson Games (or at least affiliated with them) has a whole ton of gaming-related material, though not WotC or most of the D&D-related stuff. I ordered from them a couple times and was happy to see my order arrive from the US in 7 business days, and only costing $5 shipping per product, which is CHEAP when ordering from the US. So, if you can't get something any other way, that is a decent way to go.

I live in Frankfurt, and I only know one good gaming store here. Not at all sure about Munich itself.

You get used to the keyboard. Just don't switch back and forth between English and German keyboards! You will hit the Z key everytime you want a Y and vice versa -- no matter which one you are using! :)

As a German living in the States I can assure you it is exactlz the other waz around.

Bumping it up...

I know there are a couple people running around on this board from Munich. Ordering is possible, but I'll definitely need to find someone to help me, as I speak no German at all. (For the judgmentally inclined, no I did not ask to come here, nor ever expected to. My foreign language is Spanish, and it's decaying out of lack of use. /editorial)

Thanks, Yuan-ti. I should only be here for 5 weeks, so a 6-week order time is a little silly. Just hoping to get some reading material to fill in the entertainment gap that's only filled by CNN (ick, I think my brain is going to rot).

Gracias, Horacio, pero aqui no es el mejor. (Yeah, I butchered that: Thanks, Horacio, but this isn't the best place for it.)

However, I know the Germans have a holiday today, so I'll just bump this another time and hopefully tomorrow someone will notice it.

A keyboard without qwerty just isn't a keyboard. Not to mention all the hassles finding @, `, ' ,and ´. Sigh.

Anyway, since I`m also stuck in Frankfurt, I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction, Yuan-Ti. So far the only shop I've found carries Shadowrun and Vampire.

Well, I don't speak a word of German (though my mother's side of the family is from Austria and all spoke it). That said...

The Westpark Gamers are a gaming group in Munich, Their url is:
http://home.t-online.de/home/Aaron.Haag/index.html

Their website lists a game store at this url:
http://www.spiel-zeit.de/index.htm

It seems at least possible that the game store in that link is in Munich. However, my lack of German skills prevents me from confirming this. Anyone?

Two bumps in a row...a huge breach of protocol I know, but I can only milk my 2 Dragons and Masters of the Wild for so long before I need to get to a gaming shop.

:)
