Gaming Terms and Memes

One interesting, D&D specific meme that I stumbled upon long after it had apparently passed was the idea that Pelor is really evil. Interesting and funny stuff, might have made for an interesting campaign.

Edit: Also, Meepo! he was barely described in the Sunless Citadel but became an endeared character to many players of that module. So much that he made a picture cameo in a d20 modern book.

"Full Plate and Packing Steel!"

and

"Go for the eyes, Boo!"

Both phrases spoken regularly by Minsc, a berserker fighter from the Baldur's Gate video games. Boo is his "miniature giant space hamster."

This might be just the groups I play in, but we have a term called Mopper. That is when one PC does 99% of the damage and another PC (the Mopper) swoops in and finishes them off (mops up so to speak).

On Ghetto Crit, that term really is offensive to Ghettos. I had proposed in an earlier thread to change that to Nazi Crit, as Nazi's are the only group people can disparage without feeling any guilt.

I think The Tale of Eric and the Dread Gazebo qualifies as an RPG meme. I see gazebo references pop up pretty regularly on EN World and elsewhere.

And of course, the Yin to Vecna's Yang
Eric and the Gazebo
Alaxk, this is rather appropriate to your avatar.

This happened a lot for a Bard I played in Age of Worms. He'd go out of his way to make some daring rescue of a PC/NPC only to have the warlock get all the credit.

Good times :D

Technically, that is also called "poaching" or "kill-stealing." In the original Hackmaster™ the player who got the kill got credit for it, so there was quite a bit of this. Part of the charm of that game, actually.

Speaking of which, Knights of the Dinner Table has some memorable stuff.

"I waste it with my crossbow!" - Often said by Knuckles the Thief.

"Screenmonkey" - A reference to the DM.

"Teflon Billy" - Brian's character Black Lotus' nickname.

The one-legged dwarf miniature.

"Bagworld" and "Bagwars" - What happens when you put your followers and their gear into your Bag of Holding because it's cheaper to transport them that way.

"Happy Level Handbook" - disparaging name for the Epic Level Handbook.

What's a Ghetto?

And how is rolling maximum damage disparaging?
