[Gencon 04] All Publishers Please Read.

First Post
Hey guys. I Have a very big suggestion for Gencon 04.

Here it is. Would it be possible for all of us (er, you) to gather up together and create a single pot of funds to pay for gencon 04.

What will it pay for you ask? It will be used to pay for one big central d20 publishing Island. Wizards of the Coast and Upper Deck have huge central areas right?

Wont it be far better for all d20/OGL publishers involved if we too can have a large central area, even IF that central area is split off into small booths at least all the d20/ogl publishers are one single area instead of split off in diffrent places around the convention.

It will work very much like Synergy. And make it very easy to find almost any involved publisher.

We Are all together as a community so why not work together even further for this.

If any one thinks its a good idea and is worth doing then post here. I'd be more then happy to delegate everything for this. The central hub of info. And i'll deal with Gencon LLC to see if its possible and how booth location will work. But before any of that people have to be intrested. I really belive that if we were all in one place we'd have FAR more sales and attract a greater crowd then split up into lots of smaller booths around the con.

Edit:

Here is a List of companies that plan to Contribute to to the UBER BOTH as confirmed below.

I think this is a great idea. I think it would draw attention and sales to this little section of the RPG industry. It would be a great way to showcase the goodwill and cooperation that pervades the business of RPGs, and could even help publishers to point customers towards other's products that work well with their own product lines.

I also don't see it happening in a million years. Sorry ArthurQ, but all the different publishers are off doing their own thing. The best thing that you can really hope for is for 2 or 3 companies at a time grouped together to share booth space.

Don't share in my pessimism? Prove me wrong. I dare you!

its possible if everyone coopirates.
This year at Gencon I saw a number of companies sharing space.

TGM with Green Ronin.
TRS with ENP

Lots of these companies have intertwined relationships, many of us arent just professionals or competition. We are friends.

Working together this can definatly happen.

This did work, and giving them space gave both of us unique exposure to eachothers products, at least in ENP and TRS. Of course, we sell eachothers products in our products, so tying together is just natural. I hope in the future we'll see bigger areas, more designs, and places for people to game and demo ... If it continues to work, that will only expand.

The problem is, though, "Priority points". Every company has their own ... By getting mixed together, I think that it would as a whole go to the lowest denominator for the individual booths. Unless the person with the most (Hmmm, would that be Green Ronin? I don't know) was the one who reserved the block.

What I'm trying to do is organize everyone and buy the block as the "D20/OGL Alliance" or something like that.

Everyone still gets their seprate booths but inside the Uber Booth area. Inside this area we can do our own layout and assign booth space accordingly between ourselves.

Like Darrin, I think this is a fantastic idea, and if Enkwell Press decides to have a booth next year, I will let you know. I wish you the best of luck, ArthurQ!

:D

@ArthurQ:
What do "The Game Mechanics" think about this? Don't they like the idea? (I guess you've asked them, or am I mistaken?)
A "big name" might work like a charm...
