I understand what your saying, but I'm trying to see it from his view also, and I understand where he is coming from, which is why I am trying to compromise (coming in Friday-Sunday).

Obviously compromise is key in any relationship. I'm not sure I'm not sure I'm seeing it here, as you're the only one I see as being flexible. However, if you are left with a warm 'n fuzzy feeling over whatever arrangements you come to, then it will have accomplished something. You have to do what's best for *both* of you.

He has already said that if it means that much to me, that he won't go, but that's totally not fair to him, which is why I am trying to be flexible. I'm hoping that whatever we wind up deciding that we are both happy by the end result.

Didn't he say that he would not go...and then proceed to resent you for the fact?

That hardly sounds like a no-strings-attached alternative to me.

It isn't no-strings-attached alternative, but he knows I would never ask him to miss osmeting that is so important to him.

So the compromise consists of...if you come to half of the con, I won't resent you?

Seriously...I think you need to consider trading up in the bf department.

It's more like: He gets to go to Gen Con, and I get to get away for a few days with him before I leave, even if it might not be my ideal get away spot (not like either one of us could afford anywhere I'd want to go [somewhere tropical] anyway.) He gets to be happy at Gen Con I get to be happy spendign the time with him.

Can someone really tell me the utter importance of spending time with a ton of sweaty geeks rolling D20's around in their palms and slamming down cans of Mt. Dew shouting "CRITCIAL ON THE KOBOLD! LOL!" instead of spending it with a loved one on romantic getaway that may or may not be the last time a that they will have to be alone for the forseeable future.

I'm honestly not seeing the pro/con here, and would like a refresher course on relationship priorities vs. outside unrelated commitments.

Wants are not always needs.

When that want is something that is important to you, you try to compromise to get what you want, don't you?

And what exactly are you doing to compromise? I dont see what you have given up as part of this deal. Or do you consider the fact that you are not being forced to attend the entire convention your part of the compromise?
