[GenCon] EN World Gathering, coming? post if you say Yea!

Negative Zero

First Post
last year, William Ronald (bless his heart), compiled a list of everyone going to GenCon and even printed up badges with everyone's names. stellar idea, just wondering if you're doing the same this year, or have you done your bit and it's time for someone else to take up the mantle? ... or have i just volunteered?

~NegZ

[EDIT]

since Will won't be there this year, i'll start the list. i think we should keep the post ENnies meetup. same room/area immediately afterward.

be sure to post your real first name so PirateCat can print up the badges/stickers ... if he can find the time/money/toner/whatever :p.

absotively! that was the most fun i had at GenCon last year! :D Ed's gonna be with me too. in fact, we're coming with two maybe three other member s of our DnD group this year. looking forward to it!

Actually, whoever does the badges this year - whether it's William, myself, or someone else - I have some suggestions for changes to make. I'm tempted to make the names bigger and the EN World logo smaller. I have crappy eyesight. :D

This was brought home to me when I had met Neg Zero but missed his name, and I couldn't read his badge. Later, when we were chatting, I embarrassed myself by not realizing that the cool guy I met was in fact him. My goal? Not to let this happen again!

I was planning on making up a badge for myself, as I didn't think there was a centralized source for such things. Probably just the EN World logo on a bit of blank index card, with "haiiro" written on it somewhere. ;)

A suggestion: someone with actual design skills (not me :o) could make a simple nametag suitable for printing, and it could be posted on (or linked to from) an announcement on the boards and on the main news page. This would save one person having to make lots of badges, but they would still all look alike.

I'd like to second this suggestion!
It would certainly make it easier to find other ENWorlders, and wouldn't put the responsibility on one persons shoulders to make them all.

Ah, but the secret, HOE, is to have the name in REALLY BIG FONT. I'd shrink the EN World logo along the left, remove the words "EN World Handle" and "Real Name", remove the person's last name, and just have their handle on the top, followed by a line, followed by their real first name (in a font size double or triple what you currently have). That provides maximum visibility.

Can you tell I run a lot of seminars for a living? :p

Ah, but the one I posted is on a 2 inch by 2.5 inch card, font was only 18, so a lot of room to work with. :) Sort of a business card.

Something like this maybe. Not that I'm going but nothing else to do at work so why not fiddle with Paint Shop.
