As a former (and hopefully near future) resident of Indianapolis, I have to suggest a few places for those of you lucky enough to go to GenCon to check out. I miss these places dearly since I moved away last November and hope to see them again soon.
Jimmy John's for subs. You can't beat Jimmy's bread. And its cheaper than Subway. I subsisted almost entirely on Slim 1's throught college. 17 N Pennsylvania.
Acapulco Joes for Mexican. Go around noon so you can hear God Bless America being played. Read about Joe and his American Dream. 365 N Illinois.
India Garden for Indian Buffet. This place is the cause of many sleepy afternoon business meetings at my old job. 143 N Illinois.
Nicky Blaines for martinis and cigars. Nice atmosphere for drinks and jazz. Just don't move their chairs around. 7 N Meridian.
Slippery Noodle Inn for beer, lunch and live blues. John Dillenger shot up the place once. Eat a Blue Hen for me. They are heaven. 372 S Meridian.
Sniff. I miss them all.
