[GenCon] Pickup games

Most of the non-RPGA D&D events sold out the first day or two of registration. :(

I only got one and then received a notice last week that it has been cancelled.

I will be looking for pick up games but have NOTHING prepared as a DM. I just want to be a leech...er I mean player.

I've got an 8-hour dungeon crawl that I'm going to be prepared to run as a pick-up game, preferrably for ENWorlders. Maybe Sat. night.

I just have to ask, with all the talk around here about Editions, which edition of the basic rules will you be using? Blue box, Pink Box (Otus art), Red Box, Cyclopedia? I can bring any of them. :D

mmmm. dunno yet. Was going to work that out tonight. My gut reaction is the Otus edition and B2, but I'm going to open my box of basic/expert/companion/etc.. and see what I got. Do you have a preference for general level (basic/expert/companion)?

I was thinking about running an old module, but I also may grep out an old home-brew adventure. Like I said, not a clue!

2E or 3E?

3E. I've just got the 3.5 rulebooks and will get around to reading them sometime in the next month - but probably not in time for GenCon. My games tend not to be too rulres oriented in any case and changing between versions has had little impact on previous campaigns.

Yes! Otus box, where I started so long ago. I've been through B2 and ran it so many times, I could probably tell you what is in each room...

I'd prefersomewhere in the level 3-5 range, so Expert, I suppose. I'd love to run through any of the old Basic/Expert adventures.

Only problem I could see would be if your game conflicts with something I'm already signed up for.

I'm going to try to run 1 pickup game per day. Hopefully we can work it out.

I'll build something up expert-ish. I was afraid too many would have already run through the classics. of course if i did run them, some things would change.
