GenCon real-time hotel registration now active!

Indianapolis

GenCon will be in Indianapolis starting next year.

I made my pre-registrations and room reservation last night. It actually went much better than I had anticipated.

WotC could be on to something here...

Maybe I just need to "get with the times" but whatever happened to GenCon moving to Indianapolis? I thought it was going to be gone from Milwaukee by now.

Next year, I believe. Too bad, Milwaukee is close enough for me to just drive up on a whim, and one of the players in my group lives there so I can crash at his place. Indy will make it a much more difficult proposition for me (more expensive too) although it should be pretty nice for a lot of people.

There are supposedly as many hotel rooms in Indianapolis' downtown area (near the convention center) as there are in hte entire Milwaukee metro area.

I'm skipping out on GenCon this year, and next, because World Con is coming to Toronto!!

GenCon, alas, will have to wait a while longer yet.

Note: most of the good hotels (Hilton, Hyatt) are now gone. There is still space left at the Howard Johnson's, and a few other moderately close ones.

I dunno Astal I'm thinking I might do both next year (GenCon is supposed to be early in Aug and according to the WorldCon Toronto website its Aug28-Spet1). Have to start saving now but that would be the ideal situation (I love having 3 weeks paid vacation )

I got the Hilton!!! Wo0t!!!

Of course, not without some "interesting" fun. My computer crashed just as my confirmation page was loading, and I never get an email with my reservation info.

So I called the hotel.

And they had no idea who I was. My name was nowhere in their system.

But, they gave me the number for the housing service, and they had my info in the system and re-sent the confirmation email.
