Sorry to hear your not going HOE. It was nice to meet you a couple of years ago.

My wife and I did get a room at the Westin last night after the servers came up for a bit.

I'm staying at the Days Inn Downtown. I got the room yesterday on Expedia. There's free parking and free continental breakfast. I stayed there last year. Its about 5 blocks from the convention center. I didn't mind the walk in the morning.

Mike

That's where I'm staying as well. I figure, for a savings of half off the next cheapest available nearby room, I can stand the walk. :)

We'll be staying at the Marriott, no thanks to the ****ty GenCon registration system. We booked rooms outside of the system, though. Nowhere near $300 a night, but still more expensive than I wanted them to be.

Oh well... such is life.

I got mine in the Days Inn on Expedia. I had no problems with the room last year.

Residence Inn By Marriott?

Went on Priceline and got this hotel. Anyone stay here before?
Any good? From what I remember, it's across from the Marriott Courtyard
which was walking distance of the Con Center.

SAW THIS ON IN THE GENCON FORUM...http://forums.gencon.com/?f=20&m=54004

Thought you all might appreciate knowing that in this week's IBJ (Indianapolis Business Journal) all of the conventions in Indianapolis were rated based on number of dollars spent. I'm not sure if this number would include dealer's room and other "inside the con" expenditures or not. GenCon was the second on the list. Here are the stats as printed in the article:

Attendance: 45,000
Hotel Room Nights: 17,257
Direct Visitor Spending: $39.3 million

GenCon is only $1.2 million off the first place convention, so it wouldn't take much for it to become the biggest convention in Indianapolis (in terms of dollars spent).

For those of you who are interested, Star Wars Celebration was rated at number 6 with $16.4 million in spending.
