GENCON: Where are you staying?

Wow. Wow.

that's an -average- of $873 per person. Given that I spent much less than that in '03, some people are spending well over $1000 at Gen Con. Wow.

Guilty as charged.

That's about what I'm budgeting for my first GenCon.

I think I'm also going to be at the Best Western, claiming either the sofa bed or floor space in die_kluge's room.

I'm a cheapskate. My budget is about $550, half of which is hotel.

More than likely... still haven't heard back from my friend. I think we could hold 3, though, and I'd be more than happy to sleep on my blow-up mattress. It's totally comfortable. So, if anyone is interested in going 3rds on a room with Dave and me, drop me a line. I'm sure there will be plenty of room. And it'll only cost around $210 (after taxes) for the entire stay.

If I get off my butt and get around to calling Greyhound, we might be able to save on gas money there, and if Goodman games respond to my request for information concerning their tournament GM thing, they'll cover my badge. If all that happens, I'll be going to Gen Con on the cheap this year!

Yea, that was me in '03. I don't think I spent more than about that much either. Of course, I was lucky, too, since being a writer for Mystic Eye Games, I get a lot of free swag, so I ended up going home with lots of stuff that I didn't pay for. So, that probably saved me another $100 right there.

This year, the wife 'n' I will spend around $500 on hotel (Wed-Mon), $110 on two badges, a few dollars for a few seminars, and around $500 in the dealer;s room. All approximately. :)

My spending habits at GENCON have been:
$450 - Hotel
$400 - Food and Drinks/65 a day for 6 days
$150 - Badge and Tickets
$800 - Dealer Room
-------------------------------------------
$1800 - Total Vaction/Trip Cost

Please note: Drive up and back stopping for the night to arrive on Wednesday.

Since I live within two hours of Indy, I'll be driving (and thus having a car when at Gen Con). Therefore, I'll be staying somewhere far away from the Convention Center and hopefully not spending all of my cash on a hotel.
