Family

First Post
I just finished playing through Mass Effect as a female. I felt like it was her story; I was very impressed how her personality/voice/body language fit the story.

On the other hand I've tried (and failed) to Table Top females, it just doesn't come across right. Even watching others do it seems wrong somehow. I think it's because how fluidly a construct adapts to the people inside it.

Have you ever? Have you seen it done poorly?

Also you'll note that I'm now ranked 700. That's 693 more than this guy :D

I've played female characters before and it went okay all things considered. I think it really depends on the mindset of the player group; it's only weird if somebody makes it weird.

I don't think I will see any of this in my upcoming 4e game, however. Of the six players I have, half are women. I think we'll just let them play the female PCs.

Look at my name. Gender issues?

My experience is that as long as the players and DM are mature and not bringing in any psychological baggage it works fine.

This thread will soon be destroyed by people with psychological hangups whose masculinity is threatened by any feminine stereotyped behavior in any men anywhere.

Did somebody call?

What, you have some kind of quota system in your games?

Suppose your female players want to play male characters? Will the blokes have to play "the" female PCs?

We have lots of gender bending in our group, it usually works out fine. even when the players flirt with each other.

Funny enough two (real) girls flirting with each other goes off easier then 2 guys doing the same (even though the in character relations are always male-female).

Gender issues? What gender issues?
There are no issues unless someone makes issues. In the groups I played in, nobody made issues.

Men? Women?
Both are equally capable of dreaming, adventuring, desiring, wanting, doing, achieving. Equally smart, equally wise, equally driven (or not driven.)

There are no 'issues.'

As a DM we have never had an issue with it. As a player I have had no issues otherthan once the DM set up a romantic reunion with a fellow priest (based on the tragic history I had created) which was... uncomfortable role playing for me but we didn't allow it to negatively effect the game, group or our fun.

As said already- much has to do with the maturity of the players and DM.
