Hey all,

Has there ever been any talk about guilds or organizations that PCs can join? I don't know how feasible it is, but I think it would add some flavor to LEW. Examples would be a mercenary company, wizard's cabal, thieve's guild, monastic order, etc.
My impression is that there aren't enough active characters to make it feasible.

There are under 300 characters in LEW.

How many are active? Half that? I'm not sure, but I'd guess half that might be optimistic. But let's just say 150 anyway.

Assuming there's a guild for every class, that's fewer than 20 people per guild. Pretty small guild, assuming everyone in LEW wants to be in one.

LEW has a lot of 'casual' gamers who post pretty infrequently, or don't post to the general discussions--they're not part of the 'nuts and bolts' of LEW per se. If there were enough people to want to start a group, there'd probably be nothing to stop them, though.

I keep thinking someday I'll enter all the PCs onto a pivot table w/class race alignment level & ... then I can sort them any which way. I was thinking I'd do that then post my results as the LEW judge so others could come modify it whenever they did more stat analysis. I just don't seem to get around to it. Quite a project it would be...

I could never decide how to count multiclassed characters.

I made two listings, once counting every combination as a seperate "class", eg. :

Cleric
Cleric/Fighter
Cleric/Psion
Fighter
Fighter/Ranger
Fighter/Wizard

etc.

The other listing was by every class, counting characters twice or three times as appropriate. Hence, if you had 3 Fighters, 2 Rangers, and a Fighter/Ranger, in this table I'd report 4 Fighters (the 3 pure Fighters plus the Fighter/Ranger) and 3 Rangers (the 2 pure Rangers plus the Fighter/Ranger a second time).

Between the two tables, it provided a reasonable snapshot of class/race composition.

I think I did a third set of tables by class and level, too.

TO make it easier, I would only plan to include PCs who were at least level 3. That way, you greatly reduce your workload. Also, the vast majority of the inactive PCs (& PCs who will soon become inactive) are below 3rd. You could even just do 4th and over.

Of course, there are some fairly active players who still have only characters below level 3--I know that Zaeryl and Lasair both just barely leveled up to 3. Those in the IA gang who started at level 1 just hit 3 too. Still, it would probably be decently representative.
