Hey, Rystil... are you making a group to hunt me down? If so, I think that's something I'd appreciate knowing.
That's correct--assuming anyone wants to bite it of course. It could be fun, and might lead anywhere from a conflict to possibly replacements for the characters lost to attrition depending on the RP :)

That lord is a real scoundrel, isn't he? Sending a child to do the job of a messenger. What if the child didn't make it? I'm sorely tempted to send in my third character now. :p

I just find myself in an awkward position, since I've never been a fan of PvP, and it seems like I don't have much of a choice in dealing with the situation.

He was hoping the horse he gave the child plus the two guards he sent with him would be sufficient ;) And actually, as the deceased messenger's son, the boy actually asked for the job to help support his family and bring justice to his father's killer. Larue was only too happy to oblige.

It would probably be a problem if you sent your third character into this, since you're judging the other IA thread

Of course, this isn't the first time someone came to the RDI from IA--Laynie is very happy over in Medibaria now :)

Haven't seen these guys yet. Besides, it seems Larue gave somewhat, err, biased information. Especially regarding the dragon. And Larue probably was only happy to oblige because it meant not giving some kind of wergild to the family directly. :p

I'm judging exactly the thread that this situation grew out of, so my character would be out of place anyway. :p

Weregild is supposed to be from the killer--Larue did give them a pension that would last for a while too, but the kid wanted to earn it. Add to that the money BigB's character has offered to spare for the family and they will be doing alright for long enough for the boy to grow into a real job and take care of the family.

Aye, that's what I meant ;) Plus, we're about to see a few more NPCs get involved with this if it can get off the ground.

I think this is where the PvP thing of ask first should come into play at some point. If Jdvn1 isn't into PvP, this does put him in an awkward position.

Of course, I'm in the adventure and have opinions on the matters at hand.

That's an interesting take, Bront. It does make sense in some ways, but then I have to ask, would it have been different if a party of NPC bounty hunters showed up?

(by the way, didn't I mention this to you a few weeks ago? I could swear I did)

I tend to think gunning for a PC--actively trying to kill him--is bad form, particularly when the PC isn't given choice. Though, it isn't against the rules. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall listening to the rationale when the adventure was approved, though. Did this issue come up at all?

Give the party encounters they can overcome. If you're pitting two parties of PCs against each other, that just causes more problems.

Yes, that's different. If you send in 3 20th level bounty hunter NPCs, you're good to go with the pvp rule. 3 first level PCs would be a no-no, though. The pvp is entirely an out-of-game issue, completely seperate from any sort of game balance.

If the players don't want to get involved in pvp, you might want to have a team of npcs walk into the RDI and outbid the players on taking the job.
