Creamsteak, GnomeWorks (proposal judge), Manzanita, Nimisgod, orsal, Pbartender, and me.
I think that's everybody who's currently active.

With awe? ;) Well, maybe not, but I would think that your average commoner wouldn't want to get too close. Hyragians, Paladins and other possible vandals are another matter entirely... :D

I'd love to have a gnomish cleric of Gnarl Glittergold turn your horses for a prank. :)

I'm not sure which would be funnier, having them run like heck or juyst reducing them to dust.

Thank goodness higher level characters aren't that common in LEW. Those Light Warhorse Skeletons have 3 HD, so they wouldn't be destroyed that easily. Turning is a lot easier though, but you'd still need a 3rd level cleric to do it casually, even though a 1st level one could succeed after a few tries.

Almayce doesn't really like pranks though...

I am skeptical as well. while steering a carriage drawn by horses running flat out may be more tiring than driving them at a sedate pace, theres no logical reason to make it as exausting as running flat out yourself.

A carriage isn't the same as riding in say, a car. You would get pretty beat up at a fast pace. I think at the least you would treat riding a carriage that is moving at a run as hustling, which means you can't do it for more than an hour or so without problems. Primarily though it's a rule issue, the rules don't make a distinction between riding and walking, so I'd impose the same penalties as a baseline. Sure you can house-rule things, but you just need to recognise where you are departing from the rules rather than taking it for granted that if something "doesn't make sense" then the rules get dropped.

"A character can walk 8 hours in a day of travel without a problem. Walking for longer than that can wear him or her out (see Forced March, below)."

There's no mention about riding a horse or a carriage.

I'd think that driving or riding wouldn't tire you out. It's not a physically exhausting activity. You do have to stay alert, so you couldn't go for 24 hours at a time, but I'd think 16 hours a day (20 hours for an elf) would be possible. At least for driving a carriage.

If your in a wagon going a decent speed, you being subjected to every bump and pot hole on the road. With the lack of shocks your body is in constant motion rightening and bracing. Also being nearly impossible to fall asleep and risking getting hurt if you do can be mentally tiring, with intense boredom and all.

16 hours is a bit much. I would say more 12h, as you need to eat and settle down for the night and pack things before leaving.

I've been travelling in the desert in a 4x4. I was simply a passenger, and after 4 hours, I was already tired of being shaken by the trails. There is no suspension on wagon, so it is worst, even with confortable seats. So, even if you carriage have undead horses, I think, as long as you can get tired and exhausted (not sure how much a lich consider his confort) I would say that a 12h is pretty much a maximum.

confession - As a DM I generally have travel take as long as it needs to for any plans I have for the journey. While I see the flaw in this, and acknowlege it as a personal failing, I don't actually think its a big deal. We've already established that time is completely variable between different adventures, so why worry? ;)

Guess in this case, it doesn't hurt. More of a consistancy issue, but you're right.
