It depends on what you want to do. There's a few school specialiation combos or casting archetypes that you can't pull off well with just the RAW spells (particularly the Enchanter). I would actually sooner play a Fighter than a Wizard in LEW because of this, and if you asked my face to face groups, that is saying a lot (I've never played a Fighter as a PC even once)

I really don't care about limitation. You are weak, where is the matter? I must play one of the weakest wizard on that board. Opale di Senzio is an Illusionist who can't cast Necromancy and Evocation (good bye offensive spell).

I think the great thing in LEW it is when you create a character, you don't have to create it to fill a hole in a group, as your group change. So, you can do what you want.

I've seen wizard in action in every adventure I was, and some of them have been doing really good job. I don't feel they are limited in any way in LEW. If I look at Ashnar, Tennebrynn or Ignatious, they have done great job in the last few adventure they have been with Rinaldo.

If I were to play an Arcane Trickster, I would miss the "Lesser Orb of xxxxx" line of spells, but even that wouldn't be shattering.

I do have a Druid in the Character thread I plan to play eventually, but I cannot until one of my first three characters retires or dies. I don't really see showing up in the RDI as being inherently anti-druidic. In fact, one of my adventures had some druids as important NPCs, so I know there are Druids around and about Orussus. :)

I think the draw for wizards is that LEW adventures are most likely going to include all forms of play in one form or another, one adventure or another. So being a wizard and being able to adapt to most adventures is a pretty good advantage.

A thought has occurred to me--fortunately this hasn't been a problem for me yet because I haven't given too much treasure, but here goes:

Are obvious magic items that aren't specifically listed in the SRD fair game for treasure. By obvious, I mean things that most GMs unconsciously add, like wands of the spells that aren't listed (such as Scorching Ray) or items that are identical to normal items except for have a different item slot (of course using the 1.5x if it is in the wrong chakra).

If so, what about simple custom items that are just combinations of previously statted abilities (for instance, an Amulet of both +2 Con and +1 Natural Armour, for the stated price increase of 1.5x for the second ability, so the example amulet would be 7k).

I don't believe we've ever put restrictions on magic items. As long as the item is described and not unreasonably powerful, you can use them as treasure. I know Kahuna Burger has invented some items.

Okay, cool. I had just assumed since there were limits on everything else, even monsters

Ok, since we made the revision to crafting, if I want to craft an item, and am no longer in an adventure, I can spend the time as opposed to craft points, correct?

Keep in mind, said character will likely not end up in the Inn for at least a month real time, given the glut of people there, including another of my characters.

I wouldn't say fortunate :p

I'm pretty much 100% sure that this is the only part of that thread that hasn't passed the vote yet ;)

Well, every time that LEW's rules stop me from doing something cool that I wanted to do, it makes me cringe inside, so it was fortunate assuming they were going to stop me :p

Yeah :( (For both)

It makes a big difference in how Juliana advances.
