General Discussion

I had a fluff rules question for the Living Expenses. Would it be acceptable to have Aradra set up a pseudo hunting cabin in the woods, in which he gathers furs and food, then trades them in town for the incidental equipment? Or is that taking the rule a little to far?

That is fine by me too.

I will likely get a faster response if I post this rules question here:

As an Oracle lvl 1, what do I need to do to use an oracle spell wand of lvl 2?

Does that come under Use Magic Device? Or is that something that just cannot be done?

Wands are spell trigger items so as long your class can eventually cast it (whether you can now or not) all you have to do is use a standard action to activate it. No Use Magic Device skill needed.

That fluff doesn't affect the functioning of the living expenses rule so I don't see why it couldn't be possible. I think having an actual explanation from where the stuff comes from is awesome.

I actually used something very similar in Kryeprift's background - he's got a series of "waystations" set up around E'n that he pays the locals to keep stocked and provisioned.

If I remember correctly how it works (It has been a while since Relic has been back in a town) 3 calendar days = 1 game day
On 1 game day you can learn/scribe 3 spells.
So effectively 1 spell per calendar day.

Is that right so far?

How does this rule interact with the Ring of Sustenance where Relic now only needs 2 hours sleep and doesn't need food or water, so no breaks? Can he now learn 4 spells per game day instead of 3? 5 depending on the level of spells being scribed?

(Going from level 4 to level 10 in what was a year and a half of real life time which was effectively less than a week of in game time, where study was difficult, has left Relic's Spell book a little under developed. I am quite keen to beef it up before I set off on the next equally long adventure.

Does this rule need some revision: Important that abuse is prevented but also needs some more flexibility given a case by case attention by judges especially at higher levels or if involved in more lengthy adventures?)

Galandra has some money to spend. Any suggestions?

I was looking at the wayfinder and ioun stones effects...

Since you have enough, you could enchant 1 or both of your primary weapons. Getting 1 enchanted would leave you 3k left for the wayfinder/ioun stones (but I am not sure we allow the wayfinder?), and other useful gear is still in the 3k range.

At fifth level, you should have at least one enchanted weapon. So, pick the one you use most. And then look at the Bracer's of Falcon's Aim. They give you an attack bonus as well as a perception bonus. If you sell off your buckler, I think you can just squeak by and and afford it.

While the ioun stones are approved, the wayfinder is not.

I see, thank you.

I guess +1 Falchion and Bracer's of Falcon's Aim will be the ones I get then.

Do I need to roll to upgrade for the enchantment on the Falchion too?
