a) Ancestral Arms ~ Lucerne Hammer gives you 2d6+6 at 10' reach. If something gets inside that reach, you drop the hammer and use your claws. Eventually when you go large, it is 3d6+1.5*STR at 20' reach. A reach evolution attached to claws extends that range another 5'.
b) Skill Focus(Intimidate) ~ at 7th level, you are looking at roughly a DC 19 to demoralize an opponent. You will have to invest heavy, or simply give up and invest nothing in using that feature.
c) Skill Focus(Perception) ~ may be boring, but it is the most used skill in the game.
d) The Snake Styles beg for Skill Focus(Sense Motive). Tasanto is going down this path.
My out-of-order responses:
b) I think that's why I'm hesitant. I'm not opposed to investing heavily, in a vacuum, but I just don't see there being enough "resources" available to make it worth my while. I'll be putting quite a few skill ranks into Intimidate to qualify for Boar Style, and those, plus my Cha, etc, should suffice to make Intimidate usable both in and out of combat.
a) I've waffled on this quite a bit. When you first suggested it, my initial reaction was "no", but as my concept of the fluff and mechanics have developed, it's become more plausible. To be honest, I think I'll be inclined to avoid a reach weapon, for reasons both rational and irrational, but at present, I think it's likely I'll wind up opting for Ancestral Arms and taking a big bruising two-handed weapon of some sort.
d) As I'd mentioned, Snake Style does make for an interesting route, but Dragon Style + Feral Combat Training + bipedal synthesist ='s a lot of claw attacks that hit hard. It's kind of simplistic, but it's been a core element of my thinking of this PC (a monk/monster), and therefore it's hard to not make the focus and preference of this build to pick up Dragon Style and Dragon Ferocity ASAP.
c) This, like several elements of this character, is likely an area where my stubbornness to undertake the conventional just won't let go.
As always, I appreciate your input, Mr. Knights.
