General Discussion

With the change in character goals and the fact that Still Waters has gone on for almost five months I think it would be best to wrap Dockside Diversion ~ Still Waters and transition to a new thread (and clean math) in Dwarven Crusade.

I need a judge to review the awards for Still Waters (located Here). Thanks.

Everything looks good, GE - I APPROVE the math for Still Waters (makes it very simple, keeping the Encounter GP in line with expected and then just tossing the TBG on top).

Approved. I crunched it down to two final numbers for each character, because those are what I go back and look for when doing character reviews. The Adventure Tracking page has been updated as well.
Edit: Ninja's while updating the tracking page. ;)

jkason - You never know when that scroll of See Invisibility might come in handy... ;)

Thanks, Artur, though I admit to deserving that. ;)

Few quick things here.

First off, I thought I'd see if anyone wanted to weigh in on a small dilemma I'm having. I basically have Mesem ready to go, but I'm having trouble choosing a skill for his Skill Focus - I was thinking Intimidate, but I'm not sure how often I'll be demoralizing or interrogating opponents before level 7 (when I can take Boar Ferocity). Diplomacy is an option, as is Perception, but Perception strikes me as a bit boring. Alternatively, Half-elves can trade in the Skill Focus for a +2 on Will saves: I'm already going to have a high Will with the high Wis + monk dip, but more never hurts, especially for a synthesist. So if there are any thoughts, please do chime in.

Also, since Mesem will be my third PC, I was wondering if @IronWolf could credit me for some DMCs for Fury Steps In, so that I could have enough to make Mesem official. I'm just shy of 4.5 now, so 28 days worth should be sufficient. Thanks!

a) Ancestral Arms ~ Lucerne Hammer gives you 2d6+6 at 10' reach. If something gets inside that reach, you drop the hammer and use your claws. Eventually when you go large, it is 3d6+1.5*STR at 20' reach. A reach evolution attached to claws extends that range another 5'.

b) Skill Focus(Intimidate) ~ at 7th level, you are looking at roughly a DC 19 to demoralize an opponent. You will have to invest heavy, or simply give up and invest nothing in using that feature.

c) Skill Focus(Perception) ~ may be boring, but it is the most used skill in the game.

d) The Snake Styles beg for Skill Focus(Sense Motive). Tasanto is going down this path.

My out-of-order responses:

b) I think that's why I'm hesitant. I'm not opposed to investing heavily, in a vacuum, but I just don't see there being enough "resources" available to make it worth my while. I'll be putting quite a few skill ranks into Intimidate to qualify for Boar Style, and those, plus my Cha, etc, should suffice to make Intimidate usable both in and out of combat.

a) I've waffled on this quite a bit. When you first suggested it, my initial reaction was "no", but as my concept of the fluff and mechanics have developed, it's become more plausible. To be honest, I think I'll be inclined to avoid a reach weapon, for reasons both rational and irrational, but at present, I think it's likely I'll wind up opting for Ancestral Arms and taking a big bruising two-handed weapon of some sort.

d) As I'd mentioned, Snake Style does make for an interesting route, but Dragon Style + Feral Combat Training + bipedal synthesist ='s a lot of claw attacks that hit hard. It's kind of simplistic, but it's been a core element of my thinking of this PC (a monk/monster), and therefore it's hard to not make the focus and preference of this build to pick up Dragon Style and Dragon Ferocity ASAP.

c) This, like several elements of this character, is likely an area where my stubbornness to undertake the conventional just won't let go. ;)

As always, I appreciate your input, Mr. Knights. :D

Qik, you seem (commendably!) interested in doing something interesting but not necessarily efficient with your racial Skill Focus feat. How about putting it in a skill that reflects the abilities of Mesem's eidolon? If the eidolon is a psychopomp, some of its tendency to judge the souls of others might spill over, so Sense Motive might be appropriate. Or Stealth, though I'm not sure that's consistent with the eidolon. You might get the most out of those skills by juggling Traits to make the appropriate one a class skill.

Hey, if you want to get really crazy, give him a Skill Focus in "Fly" and grow some wings for that eidolon down the road.
