General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

It's surreal to read everyone's responses. People are really passionate.

My Star Wars package essentially is:

Clone Wars
The Original Trilogy (Han shot first)
Andor
Rogue One

With bits & bobs from The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan, etc. Not all the Disney+ series & seasons. I haven't even tried to watch them all; it's all too much.

I did watch the prequels & post-RotJ films, but truthfully even the latter are a haze even if I can recall what happened in a specific film when someone mentions it; maybe that says something about their intents & visions.

I'm a POC. I don't think the dirty done to Finn had anything to do with racism. Just different views of the story they wanted to tell and pettiness on the part of the directors.
No, I don't think the film-makers were particularly racist. But the "fans" who got all upset by the idea of having a black stormtrooper sure were!

As were the people who shouted at Kelly Marie Tran so hard that she quit social media (and Disney sidelined her character in RoS).

Spare time has an impact these days, with a 2 year old and 8 month old in house now (when two years ago our youngest was 11 and was a lot easier to make time got movies / shows) but big fan of star wars, and my Teams backgrounds alternate between Tatooine, Hoth, Endor and Naboo for the seasons.
Love the original trilogy, and have soft spot for the prequels due to Obi Wan (if there was a cut with just his scenes would love it I think).
Of the sequels, i enjoyed the first, had a few issues with the second though enjoyed some scenes a lot, and the third felt a bit of a mess in seeming to over correct for perceived issues of the first.
I think Rogue One is up there with the originals, Solo was a bit meh though. We watched first season of Mandalorian and really enjoyed it, but haven't had chance to watch any more of the series to date unfortunately, but so still get excited about any new announcements.

I've seen all of it, liked and appreciated almost all of it, and really enjoyed the bulk of it. I really care about worldbuilding, and a lot of the new stuff is great for that (although not the sequel trilogy).

I finished Skeleton Crew. The final episode is so dumb. I really liked this series up until the last five minutes of the penultimate episode, and then it became the worst kind of kiddie pablum. What a bummer.

Please, please, please let Andor Season 2 be close to as good as the first season.

Yeah, but the supposition in the quote I was replying to was that Rian was a Racist... some other pejorative that was not mentioned.

Yes. I don’t know Rian personally so I can’t say for sure whether he is or isn’t anything. However, I agree with your assessment – the issue with Finn in TLJ isn’t a racist one. It’s just that Rian chose to have Finn redo his redemption arc all over again for some inexplicable reason.

No character progression.

Each OT main character had that. Luke farmer, jedi apprentice, jedi knight.

Leia princess/damsel in distress, rebel leader, rebel hero.

Han. Mercenary smuggler, rebel hero, rebel general.

One of many faults (jobbing out Hux, crap comedy with Poe, entire canto bight stuff, Jake Skywalker, ).

PT had it's issues at least it made sense, great world building, satisfying ending.

Not sure if it's entirely Rians fault. Writers, Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy maybe Iger. Apparently Kathleen asked for more time.

Again, I think that each director wanted to put his own stamp on the franchise, rather than serve the story or the characters. It was too disjointed to have any sort of character progression, and indeed each character seemed to have a more or less erratic movement through the plot in terms of any personal growth.

Ironically i think only Hux got an arc
