Generation Gap in Gaming?

we have the wargamer, the accountant, the tactician, the ruleplayer, the rollplayer, the roleplayer, the etc... all of them clearly gamers in their respective rights. and each attacking the challenges from their own point of view.

Wow, I didn't realize we are so balanced in terms of styles of play. I can only guess who is who.....

We do have a wide range of ages and play-styles within this group but there doesn't appear to be a clear correlation between the two. I think differences in play-style are more personality driven than age related.

Hmm. Have you considered starting a disco group?

Our group seperates into 29-43 and 17-20 the three younger players are a married couple, and her younger brother. The one of the younger gamers is our rules lawyer, and the other two are background players, one pure hack and slash the last hard to pin down. According to her player survey she favors action, and puzzel solving more than combat or RP.
the 4 older gamers all enjoy Roleplaying far more, creating characters with strong personalities and indepth backgrounds.
definatly a generation gap.

On the group I game with Tuesdays, I haven't asked anyone's age. Figure it's none of my business, but they're all working adults.

On my Saturday game, we're almost all in our low 30's.

Can't help you out I'm afraid.

The majority of our current group ranges from early 20's to mid-30's, with one 11-year old turning 12. In the past, my previous groups have been within 5 years of one another (A side effect of going to high school and college with all of them). Oops - one side anomaly; one player in that high-school/college group was in his 40's (now early 60's?) because his original group was composed of some older gamers who were brothers/related to my high-school group. Confusing, but think of it in generations of gamers. :)
