Gestalt Characters from a DM point of View

So something totally, unbelieveably crazy like Druid 20/Monk 16/Fighter 4 would be all legal...
That's not unbelievably crazy. This:

Wiz5/AT10/MT5

Brb1/Mnk1/Rog3/Rgr8/Ftr4/Rog3

is unbelievably crazy.

And you can still use CHA as a dump stat!

Your 1st example makes no sense at all... how do you get into the AT without Rogue levels? And how do you get into MT without divine caster levels??

And on the 2nd one... alignment restriction would still be in effect... so say goodbye to either the barb or monk stuff...

I'm getting a great vision for abusing the already oft-abused Spike Chain when building a multiclass/PrC-allowed Gestalt character...

It involves monk levels, fighter levels, sorcerer levels (maybe just a couple), rogue levels.... and Dragon Disciple levels.... heheheheheh.....

Well, I'm in a PbP game that lost a few players and instead of opening requirement up we went Gestalt... Oh did I mention the characters ECL 21? :D

Here's a link to my character, she' still a work in progress but she's mostly done.

Holy Warrior is from GR's Book of the Righteous
Favored Soul is from WotC's Miniature handbook, and complete divine
Heartwarder is Sune's Divine PrC (Forgotten Realms: Faiths and Pantheons
Pious Templar is a PrC from the Complete Divine.

Oh and the Half-Nymph is from Dragon 313.

It's a 32-point buy but honestly gestalts should probably be 36 point buy.

Not that I showed my character to be honest I love the idea of gestalt characters, honestly I spend allot of levels multiclassing in the hopes of getting the character the way I envision them, and this in turn leads to a character that is always behind others so they never quite become what I envision.

The above character use to be a 4th level holy warrior, 6th level favored soul, and 8th level Heartwarder who wasn’t a real threat to anyone but herself. (Minus her saving throws.)

So all in all I’m quite happy to see the rules.

No way baby, that's one character. The first line in one track of classes, and the second line is the other.

So swap the Monk and Barb order, and you still have all the abilites, you just can't go up in Monk any more.

PS

Is this legal?

Is this legal, according to multi-classing Gestalt Rules?

I'm tracking BAB here, jus because I'm an ass.

Gestalt Character Class = BAB total (where BAB came from this level)

Cleric1/Fighter1 = +1 BAB (fighter)
Cleric2/Rogue1/Fighter1 = +2 BAB (cleric)
Cleric3/Rogue2/Fighter1 = +3 BAB (cleric or rogue)
Cleric4/Rogue3/Fighter1 = +4 BAB (cleric or rogue)
Cleric5/Rogue3/Fighter2 = +5 BAB (fighter)
Cleric6/Rogue4/Fighter2 = +6 BAB (cleric)
Cleric7/Rogue5/Fighter2 = +7 BAB (cleric)
Cleric8/Rogue6/Fighter2 = +8 BAB (rogue)
Cleric9/Rogue7/Fighter2 = +9 BAB (rogue)
Cleric10/Rogue8/Fighter2 = +10 BAB (rogue)
Cleric11/Rogue9/Fighter2 = +11 BAB (cleric)
Cleric 12/Rogue10/Fighter2 = +12 BAB (cleric)
[...]
Cleric 20/Rogue10/Fighter10 (finish off with 8 fighter levels).

So, you have a 20th level clerical caster, a +20 BAB, 10 fighter levels for feats and hit points, 10 rogue levels for skills and etc.

Give this guy the Magic domain and a bundle of wands and scrolls, and he's a one-person 4 person party!

I'm not seeing the BAB being that high, the only way to keep it at a perfect 20 is to take 20 straight warrior levels.

And he might be able to do all those things but he isn't a party of four cause he lacks the most important things. "actions"

The rules for fractional BAB and saves is right bellow the gestalt rules also.

It very well might not be legal. I don't have the Gestalt rules.

So, apologies if I've screwed up. Ignore, in that case.

By the book it is, you take the best advancement for each level your at but this leads to people taking a class when it gains a saving throw bonus or when it's BAB goes up.

There are optional rules, fractional saves and BAB, that one most really consider, cause if not it's quite possible to make a level 20 character with nearly a 20 in any one save. (way to high)

fractional BAB and saves work like this
a high BAB gives you a +1 at each level
a medium BAB gives you a 3/4 at each level
a poor one gives you a 1/2 at each level

Saves
First level* is 2 1/2 (character level not class level)
a high one 3/4
a low is 1/3
