I'm sure my finacee would love it if I bought her some jewelry from Tiffany's, but I would like to think that she would want to slap that crap out of me for spending way too much money after the "Oh joy" factor wore off.

I think that the spa day would be very well received.

The last couple of years I've taken to making my wife a present in addition to the stuff that I buy her. Last year I made her a wooden vase out of a piece of Dogwood tree from our yard. This year we had to cut down a dead Mimosa tree and I'm using part of it to fashion a lufa (loufa? loofa? you know, those scrubby things) handle so that she can scrub her back in the shower when I'm not there to do it for her.

I'm not the world's greatest woodworker but she seems to really appreciate the time I spend making her something special. This year she's reciprocating by knitting me a scarf.
