Gift Ideas?

I'm sure my finacee would love it if I bought her some jewelry from Tiffany's, but I would like to think that she would want to slap that crap out of me for spending way too much money after the "Oh joy" factor wore off. ;)

I would slap the crap out of my husband if he spent that much money on a gift for me. I kept telling him before we got engaged to skip the engagement ring, I wanted an engagement stereo. At least I can use that if he's going to spend a lot of money.

He still got me a ring, but at least there are no stones in it. :)

I second the "gift of time" idea. A certificate to someplace she likes to go, large enough for her to share with a friend and you or someone she trusts to watch the kids.

I think the spa day would be lovely. I'm probably difficult to buy for, though. I don't wear jewelry, I would prefer to buy my own clothes, I buy books & music that I want whenever I want them, and I really hate knickknacks.

What I really want for Xmas we can't afford. I'd like a Wacom tablet and Adobe Illustrator.

I just like to piddle away my money on things like books, movies, cds and eating out rather than one big (fairly useless) thing. Beside, I tend to lose jewelry.

She has to catch me before she can slap the crap out of me. Not as easy as it sounds. Being small and quick has its advantages.

I never told her what I spent on the engagement ring, but she got an idea of the price cause we bought our wedding rings at the same place. I just tell her she better not lose them or her name is mudd. So far, she's tried to drop them down the sink, but that's all i can remember.

She was far too happy when she got the ring to sulk about not getting a stereo.

Now, actually on topic, the spa sounds like it'd be a great idea. I considered getting orchid a gift certificate for massages or a spa, but really wasn't sure if she'd like it or not. In the end, i went with one of her guilty pleasures. It was a safe bet.

This year we had to cut down a dead Mimosa tree and I'm using part of it to fashion a lufa (loufa? loofa? you know, those scrubby things) handle so that she can scrub her back in the shower when I'm not there to do it for her.

earlier in the thread, you can imagine how pleased I was when my wife handed me a short list of Christmas Gift Ideas for her and on it was "loufa with a handle". :D
