Gifts for the wedding party

I was a groomsman in the wedding for one of my gaming buddies this weekend. The couple decided against the usual commemorative trinkets as gifts for the wedding party and decided to get each person something different that they would enjoy. They ended up getting me the Midnight Second Edition book, while the best man received some Warhammer figures he had been looking to get for some time. It was so much nicer than getting an engraved picture frame or some such thing.

What was the best wedding party gift you received?

We didn't really get anything. We eloped in Jamaica. So, that tends to cut down on the present-giving portion of the ceremony when you're 1300 miles away from everyone.

For me it was the best wedding gift I gave.

My nephew is only 4 years younger than I, so he was my best man at my wedding. He's a big Star Wars fan and an even bigger Boba Fett fanboy, so as a groomsman gift I got him an authentic replica Boba Fett's helmet.

He loved it!

No one else was quite sure what to make of it, but he and I both knew how happy he was with it.

When my geekier friends got married (not my geekiest, but give them time) they got me a copy of "A Traveller's Guide to Mars." I've never been able to figure out why they asked me to be a groomsman if they wanted to send me to another planet....
