Girls Gone Wild! - or Hag Covey and the eye.

so what good is it?

Hag Eye
A hag eye is a magic gem created by a covey. It appears to be nothing more than a semiprecious stone, but a gem of seeing or
other such effect reveals it as a disembodied eye. Often, a hag eye is worn as a ring, brooch, or other adornment. Any of the
three hags who created the hag eye can see through it whenever they wish, so long as it is on the same plane of existence as
the hag. A hag eye has hardness 5 and 10 hit points. Destroying a hag eye deals 1d10 points of damage to each member of the
covey and causes the one who sustained the greatest damage to be blinded for 24 hours.

What can they "see" that they couldnt see with normal eyes?

The trick is to give the "eye" to someone else. The hags can then see what is going on around the person/creature with the "eye".

They can see things in the vicinity of the eye rather than just where they are.

1> Put the eye in a dark hole near the entrance to their lair. If someone starts banging on the door, the hags can check who it is without opening up.

2> Give the eye to a minion on a mission, so you can see what happens if he fails to return.

3> Allow it to be stolen, or sell it.

I'm sure plenty of folks can think of stupid hag-eye tricks.

The eye does present a vulnerability to the hags, though. Once you figure out what it is, just chuck it into the nearest basilisk lair... or, refer to the third comic on this page. :D
