Githyanki & Githzerai as characters...

What is the level adjustment for these two types of races if you play them as characters? It gives a little blurb in the PsiHB about playing them as characters, but doesn't go on to say anything like"Treat these like a plus X level creature..."

Any idea?

I think the ECL is 2, but I'm not a 100% on that.

There's also a slight variance between the psi-handbook version and the Manual of the planes version, which may change that a little.

Solarin's ECL calculator lists both of them as a 2, and that looks about right to me as well.

I'd take any listing that rated the Githyanki as equal to the Githzerai with a grain of salt. The telekinesis ability of Githyanki is significantly more powerful than anything the Githzerai get.

Githzerai as monk with +4 armor. Mmm goodness. And the +6 Dex is just too nifty.

I wish their free powers had manifester level = character level. TK at 16th-level is too much.

The Manual of the Planes puts both of them at +2 ECL.

They are both +2 ECL. The Githyanki are slightly better overall.

MotP and PsiHB have indeed different versions of both. MotP versions are intended to be used for campaigns without psionic powers, I think. Both races powers listed at will are changed to 3/day in the PsiHB errata.

I play a Gith in Buzzard's pbp game. The ECL on them seems about right.
