D&D (2024) Githzerai Psion? Thri-kreen Psion? Where's My Psion?

Dragonhelm

Knight of Solamnia
The new Monster Manual has a githzerai psion and a thri-kreen psion, both of whom are Int-based casters. I'm really glad to see the old psion name in use again. But I have to ask...

Where the hell is my psion class or subclass?!?

I get it, the aberrant mind is supposed to be the psion. However, it's thematically like the GOO warlock and was popular in playtesting. Still, I'd like to have an Int-based psion as an option. Now where do I find that?

Several 3pp sources exist. My favorites include Paranormal Power's Empath class (written by our own @Steampunkette), and EN Publishing's Voidrunner's Codex for Level Up, which features the Psion and Psyknight classes. Both are absolutely amazing products that treat the subject matter differently but beautifully, and material from either or both is more than welcome in any 5e-based game I run.

Did I see right that one of the Humanoid profession statblocks is a "Psion"?

[Edit]: Sorry, no Psion. The post in mind must have been referring to the Gith and Thri-kreen.

You make an Aberrant Mind Sorcerer and cross out 'Charisma' under the Spellcasting Ability heading and write in 'Intelligence'. And then wherever you see the words 'Far Realm' in any of the fluff that you write down in your background or spells or whatnot... you come up with whatever other narrative term you wish to use to explain your character's mental powers.

And then when you show the character to your DM and ask that this be allowed... and they get pissy that you dared to try and change your spellcasting ability for your Sorcerer... you tell them to just get over it. Changing a spellcasting ability is SO inconsequential of a change that you should feel free to walk away from any table where that schmuck of a DM tells you No.

There is Laser Llama's Psion class on GM Binder.

Laserllama's is the one I've used personally; definitely a strong option, and the most "WotC"-like in presentation.

The Empath and Psion that @Micah Sweet mentioned are also both very good, and I also like Kibblestasty' option for some concepts.
