Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion

I just couldn't figure out where this thread would belong in the forums. Please feel free to move it wherever it belongs. The general tag for the General forums mentions board games but then the specific topics all seem to be RPGs so whatever. But Gloomhaven certainly has RPG aspects to it, so I figured this might be right.

I am only just now getting into Gloomhaven, as a solo supplement to when we cancel our RPG games. I am starting with Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. Because it's only $41 on Amazon right now, and because it seems easier to learn and with a more interesting and better learning curve than the full Gloomhaven game. I figure once I am done with Jaws of the Lion, then Frosthaven might be out.

I was wondering, for solo play, which of the four characters people have liked the most or found to be the best combination? Any other thoughts or advice on the game?

My friend has the full Gloomhaven game + Jaws of the Lion, I've only done one session of it playing with him and his wife and another friend.

We did the starter adventures from Jaws of the Lion, I played the Valrath Red Guard (which is a tank and controller). Got some great 4e vibes from playing it. In my experience, the tank plus the ranged guy shredded stuff as long as we found a decent choke point, the demolitionist just looked for stuff to blow up.
