Oh noes! They're in another core book we're already buying to play the game. If the DM says that yes Gnomes exist in the area of the world you will adventuring in, but still won't let you play a gnome PC just b/c they're in the MM, then the DM is a jerk

Tell me about it. When I saw the thread title and clicked on the link, what I got was far, far from what I expected. It seems to me like "The" Rouse was making fun of Gnome "lovers" and mocking their sense of loss.
