GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

I think it is a mistake to think DB, DBZ, DBGT, etc. have consistent and logical power scaling. It was a tv show for entertainment purposes first and foremost.

In my experience no long form entertainment has consistent logical power scaling. But making these things consistent and logical is basically what I do for fun. ;)

So while no system will be 100% accurate it can still be the best fit for for each verse. My goal with these rules is to create a sort of RPG "Oververse" that any other verse can be slotted into and then be consistent with all the others.

Since Goku has been brought up, I’m curious as to where you would put Superman. Not necessarily where his most powerful feat would put him, just a standard comic Superman. Specifying comic since pretty much every other media isn’t as strong.

Superman is probably the trickiest character to pin down since he has the most showings and his main Superpower is heroism so he always wins in the end. Additionally, DC Comics are crazy about just boosting all their characters by virtually any factor should the story warrant it.

However.

By using the D&D Thor as a yardstick we can confidently place vanilla Superman at about Divine Rank 6 Greater God* = CR 36. We can then stack whichever power-ups we need as the appropriate templates. Sundipped. Silver Age. Superboy Prime. Superman 1 Million. Cosmic Armour Superman. Etc.

So Superman is effectively CR 36+, even though he has one shot CR 100 opponents. So probably CR 36-116 depending on the story.

*Equivalent to a D&D Skyfather. But, as I mention in the book, comic book Skyfathers are Divine Rank 8 instead of 6.

Honestly, I think the real problem is that D&D doesn't have anything that approximates large-scale area damage. Everything is written at the tactical level, and is carefully outlined to either be individually-targeted or only affecting a very small area. Even as a collateral effect, the properties of being able to cause destruction on a large scale simply aren't acknowledged by the system.
Agreed. It's a real barrier to verisimilitude in certain areas.

When can I give you money for this again?

When can I give you money for this again?

July 1st is the date when the Kickstarter begins.

I should have the writing finished by the end of the Kickstarter. 🤞

But its possible Stretch Goals and the Artist Sketch Edition might add 4-6 weeks to Production. With the Print versions shipping 4-6 weeks after that.

So PDFs in around August-September, Printed Books in around October-November.

Quick Kickstarter Question - is it worthwhile me having separate Backer Tiers for people who want either both Colour Covers, or All Three covers (including the B&W Artist Sketch version*) or should I simply allow additional copies as Add-ons?

*Which is actually starting to look good.

If the books were:

Artist Sketch Edition = £25
Colour Version Cover A = £30
Colour Version Cover B Kickstarter Exclusive = £35

I guess I could have Additional copies as Add-ons at a £5 discounted price?

I have seen both before. So you have several tiers in the Kickstarter, but you also have add-ons (that often correspond to the tiers, but not always). I have noticed the add-ons can be to your pledge added after the kickstarter is over too.
