Interesting question. I used to go to the movies alone, way back when. Not a lot, but at times it was just handy...say if I was going between lectures or something. I even went to see one film and ended being the only person in the damned theatre - that pushed it a bit.

Now I don't, and I'm not sure I could anymore. Bit weird, but it seems to be true now I think about it. Still, I rarely need to go alone, I'm married and we like very similar movies and will give most things a shot so it's rarely a problem.

Meh, I usually see movies alone. If I had someone to hang out with at the time, I wouldn't waste that time going to the movies, right? I'd go to the movies when I had nuthin' to do for the day. I occasionally go to a movie with family or friends, but that's rare nowadays.

I almost always go to movies alone. A few times, when I lived in a little town in OR, I'd often be the only one in the theater when I went late on Sunday nights... I loved it! No one talking, no cell phones....

The most boring kind of movie, of course, is going to see one with NOBODY in the theater -- when that happens, it kind of sucks some of the fun out, but I'll do it if I really want to see the movie.

I got into the habit of movies alone when my X would ask me to screen a movie in the wee hours of the morning. I'd be there all by myself (She usually had to do whatever movie theater managers do to the books). Watching Batman a month before it opened all by my lonesome is a cherished moment. It was elegant.

No problem going alone. I rarely go out to see movies, though, so maybe the question is moot.

If I were single now with no kids I would probably see some movies by myself. Back when I was single, I would not have gone alone. I was more self-conscious back then, and I would have thought it strange to be out at a movie alone. I would have been equally unwilling to go have dinner in a restaurant alone, something I have become used to with business travel.

I have to admit, when I travel for business, I am quite self-conscious about going to dinner by myself. I have only done it a half-a-dozen times, but it does bug me a bit. How do you keep entertained while you wait? I usually try to stare out the window, but then I still look annoyed (at least the wait staff stops by a few times to tell me my food is coming).

I'm very happy to go to the movies alone. At least then I know we'll all agree about the movie and the quality of the conversation will be absolutely scintillating.

I'd rather not go to see a movie by myself, but I probably would if I had too. For instance, tonight I was planning to go see Spiderman 3 on the cheap at the local theatre, and I would of gone alone, but my friend is back from school and he's up to seeing it again it seems. For many movies, I guess I " dragoon " , or rather, bribe my Dad into seeing it with me. I pay for both tickets and the food, on a Saturday night, and I can get him to go. That is how it will likely go for Transformers. Luckily, most of the movies we go see he admits to liking after we've seen it, so it works out...

Actually, now that I remember, I guess I have seen one movie alone. I think I saw Serenity on opening night alone, and then saw it again with my Dad. Not only may it be the only movie I've seen alone, it's the only movie I've seen twice in the theatre.
