Good 8, Evil 9 - Evil wins the Exhibition!

Krathlakk concentrates and throws a bead of fire at Hurrycane, then moves over to 100n55e.
[sblock] The nalfeshnee will layer on unholy auras until he enters the arena. Keep in mind that Hurrycane is now within melee attack range of Krathlakk and may provoke an AoO from his magical longspear (which now does 2d6+9 damage). [/sblock]

Greybar and Infiniti[sblock]The longspear should inflict 2d6+12 damage. Krathlakk's Strength is 22, so the bonus for damage due to Strength is +9 (+6*1.5), and it is a +3 longspear, so total bonus is +12.[/sblock]

Bottom of 70:
Hurrycane does 10 more points, lowering Krathlakk to 52 hit points.

Top of 71:
Krathlakk manages to get through SR, incorporeality and energy resistance (though Hurrycane makes his save) with an almost exactly average damage fireball. Hurrycane takes (34/2 - 10 = 7 points) and is down to 29 hit points.

Doh! Three out of four isn't good enough, salamander boy.
The mere third-circle evocation is unable to pierce the protective globe of the eladrin.
Hurrycane is still at 36 hp and is up.

What about protective aura? Did he increase the level of the spell?
Did he just put it up? I thought those things were visible. He did not have it up for much of the fight vs. Infinitus nor vs. the second round here.

He had it up against Infinitus for most of the fight.

Nowhere in the text for the eladrin or angel in the MM does it say that the aura is visible. The devas in the FF have the aura manifest as a glowing nimbus of light, but not in the MM.

It says it functions as a sort of globe of invulnerability, which does have a faint shimmer to it. A question here is what does the phrase "functions as" mean? Does it mean that it has the same effect, or does it mean that plus it looks identical? The aura also functions as a magic circle, which does not have any visual manifestation.

Yeah, they're much more clear on the psionics, aren't they. I can't see "function as" meaning "looks like". My assumption in general is that magical effects aren't visible without a power to see them, though perhaps my tendency to use color commentary confuses the matter. Plus, Hurrycane right now is a glowing ball of eldritch colors (or somesuch), so I don't know how much of a nimbus or glow would be obvious to a creature with no Knowledge(arcane) or Spellcraft skill, much less interpret it correctly.
