Good 8, Evil 9 - Evil wins the Exhibition!

On deck is a horsey with a horn sticking out of its head.

K-Pax steps to 110N45E, concentrates defensively, and creates a blade barrier spanning the length of the arena east to west at 95N.

"Oh crap, more buffing from the on deck circle?"

If Brian and/or George make their saves (SR aside) they choose to end up on the north side. If Ringo makes his save (SR aside), he chooses the south side.

Bottom of 96:
K-Pax concentrates easily (roll 39) and the blade barrier springs up.

George ignores the blade barrier (SR roll 17), but Ringo (roll 21) and Brian (roll 32) are affected. Ringo makes his SV (roll 26) as does Brian (roll 29). Ringo steps south to 85n80e and Brian steps north to 95n55e.

Good:
[sblock]
Dodge gains 14 hp, which includes the +1 CL for the Good Domain.

George takes a 5ft-step to 95n40e and then a full attack on K-Pax.

Brian steps to 100n50e and does the same, at no power attack.

Ringo tries another unholy blight.

Paul moves over to 80n30e and also tries an unholy blight.

3: K-Pax's protective aura against George is even more pitiful than Brian's unholy aura (roll was a 14!)

K-Pax attacked Brian, not George. It seems that George was allowed to move in based on this roll?

K-Pax attacked George, Brian, and Ringo. The blade barrier attempted to slice all three. Success in the attack is not required IMO. Otherwise, would you say that K-Pax could attack in melee and as long as he misses, George could not return the favor? If K-Pax had normal invisibility, would it be lost if he failed all three SR checks?

Oh wait, did you mean previous to the blade barrier? You're right on that I think. Su magic circle? How irritating is that?

But, no, George did not move in methinks, but that would be another question. Even though the SR worked, does he get a save and thus a free 5ft of movement? I'd say no, which is why I positioned George where I did. Otherwise he would be adjacent to K-Pax.

We have always played that a melee attack is required to drop the protection against contact by a summoned being, but the text does not specifically say the attack has to be a melee attack. We have always thought that what eliminates that aspect of protection from evil is the attempt at bodily contact by the protected creature.

I never assumed it was a melee attack. It's an attack just like invisibility states. Maybe the one that the astral munchkin has works a little differently, but that's how I read magic circle. The other question is whether K-Pax appeared within magic circle range of George (which I would personally consider forcing upon him). I don't remember the exact positions, however.

I don't know what to do about the current situation though, whether we go back in time. If so, I guess George gets that crit roll on the blasphemy SR check? How many HD does an astral deva have? :D
