I'm wondering what stories there are out there of people having bad and good things happen to their characters at the same time. This thread is, of course, just a front for my mad scheme to post my particular story, but I invite other people to add their own.
My Evoker 9/Air Elemental Savant 10 was in a mage duel during a mass melee, with a higher level mage. The combat had gone a couple of rounds, and I decided to pull out the big guns. I start casting Time Stop. The opposing mage uses his counterspell action to counter with Greater Dispelling. My Spell Turning reflects it. His reflects it back. At this point we pull out the Spell Turning spell, look at the chart for what happens, and roll the dice. 100. Sucked into another plane. We pull out the Manual of the Planes for the random plane table, and roll on it. The Abyss. And me with no Gate prepared that day. On the other hand, my Time Stop completed successfully, and in the 4 virtual rounds I got I cast 2 Electrical Delayed Blast Fireballs, and 2 Sonic Delayed Blast Fireballs, and the total did manage to kill the other mage, leaving me stranded in the Abyss. Oops.
