Good cast, horrible movie

The Conqueror (1956)

John Wayne ... Temujin, later Genghis Khan
Susan Hayward ... Bortai
Agnes Moorehead ... Hunlun
John Hoyt ... Shaman
William Conrad ... Kasar
Lee Van Cleef ... Chepei

The kicker to this is that not onlyis it an awful film, but the sand used on the Hollywood sound stage where it was filmed was trucked in from an above-ground nuclear test site. The majority of the cast and crew associated with this movie later died of cancer.

That's a new one on me. Where you'd glean that tidbit of trivia?

Eragon

John Malkovich
Jeremy Irons

How was I supposed to know this would be awful, well, other than actually trying to read the book first....

War of the World starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace starring Ewan McGregor, Samuel L Jackson, and Liam Neeson.

Well, this subject is a matter of speculation.

What's speculation? Only perhaps the correlation between the cancer deaths and filming in the radiation areas is speculation. Though it's certainly a reasonable speculation.

The rest -- filming in an area suffering from fallout from nuclear tests, shipping radioactive sand from the area to a sound stage for use in later filming, and higher than normal cancer rates for that particular cast and crew -- that's all well documented fact.
