Good divine char build?

Flavour-wise, this is a neat combo. Inquisitor tends to be Ranger-like in some abilities. And since you have some dedicated casters, focusing on martial prowess would be wise.

Two levels of Ranger would be more than enough, especially since your pal has chosen Human for that extra feat. Take his First level as Inquisitor (for the skills boost) and tack on two levels of Ranger on the end. Others can help you with bow builds better than I can... just make sure you find a way to use the bow in melee without invoking AO's.

I'd go Ranger first. d10 HD is more useful to have maximized, BAB +1 at first level helps to qualify for feats, and the bonus feat infusion coming as early as possible will have the most impact.

First off, the Inquisitor is no less dedicated than the Paladin. This class is absolutely implacable in their particular world view. It's not "Paladin Lite", it's "Paladin-Other".

That said, how about this as a character concept? A Tiefling Inquisitor (Infiltrator Archetype) build, of Chaotic Good alignment. The character's schtick is he or she is the son of an escaped Chelish Tiefling slave and is a rare Oni-Spawn. His mother died ensuring he got to freedom in Andoran. A sect of Shelyn took him in as a child as he has a human appearance. When he hit puberty, his Oni-Spawn nature began to show but by then he was a trusted acolyte of the Order and he remains so now. He now works as a secret agent of Shelyn, is of Andoran nationality and serves his sect's goals of Abolition of Slavery. He works undercover to obtain information about slavers in order to intercept shipments and otherwise assassinate slavers and those who would trade in the bondage of the living. When necessary, he uses his infiltration ability and his tiefling background to convince others he is Lawful Evil. His cover is utterly believable and totally convincing.

In truth, the character is an absolutely no holds barred opponent of slavery in any form, especially concerned with the redemption of tieflings from oppression in Cheliax.

This Inquisitor (Infiltrator) is Spy/Judge/Jury and Executioner. And yes, he is BAD ASS.

There is no bargain with slavery that such an Inquisitor will make; no law for the establishment of regulation of slavery that such an Inquisitor respects. He will go undercover and appear to be one of them, waiting for his moment to betray them -- then he will strike without mercy. An Utterly I-m-p-l-a-c-a-b-l-e foe of slavery.

As an Oni-Spawn, I have given him Katana as a bonus weapon proficiency. I think the GM will allow it as a legitimate spin on the character without making it a bonus feat. His weapon is a +1 keen Katana with a threat range of 15-20. He crits -- and he crits OFTEN.

His Oni-Spawn tiefling ability is that once per day he can See Through Anything. This sounds like not that big a deal, except his ability as a spy is unmatched. Use this ability combined with the 0 level Inquisitor Orison, Sift, he can quickly glance at the contents of a ledger or a chest and gain valuable information, all while standing there in plain sight. His foes do not have a clue that their secrets have just been discovered.

Other nice combos include his ability to grant his teamwork feat of Shake it Off via Inquisition spell and then to reap the benefits of that by adding +3 or +4 to all of his saves.

Using his tiefling granted darkvision, he is particularly difficult to fight when he casts darkness on his katana as he heads into battle ahead of his allies.

A build to 7th lvl using those amazing rolled stats might look something like this:

Wow Steel_Wind. That's a full character concept there. I like the back story and flavor of the personality. Nice solid build too. Sadly the player can't use it :P. The campaign isn't in the pathfinder world. Its in a homebrew world in a dimensional pocket were all the player were raised .The dimensional pocket holds temples to every good deity and is run by a high lvl paly/Holy Vindicator. The idea of the campaign is they are finally of age and fully trained to the point were they will now be sent out on missions from the deities of good in order to crush the servants of evil. And also teifling and asimar aren't allowed to the players as they equivilant to an LA+1 build. I know pathfinder doesnt have LA anymore but thats the only way I can represent i stronger than normal race.

Tieflings are not that much different than a human. They get +2 +2 -2, instead of just +2. (in a point build, the same) They don't get an extra feat and get something cool instead + darkvision.

The Council of Thieves does not rate it higher than a human, the ARG won't and PFS play currently does not either.

Is see through anything for 1 rnd a day really better than "cleave" in every combat for the rest of the character's life? I think not.

Besides, if you are allowing 4d6 roll em with those stats, you've already gone off the power curve! That's like a 59 point build!

The build is a variant of something we recently did on the podcast, and with Herolab, you can whip it up in 30 mins or so, concept complete.

Awesome software :)

Yeah. Hero lab is pretty awesome. Thats what I use for all my chars :). Ive been using it since it only had the core classes. Hes really set on the whole ranger/Inquisitor thing though. He likes the way they mesh and how it helps his ranged build. He went ahead and took 2 lvl's of ranger first. So he is ranger 2 inq 1. Hasnt picked his domain yet. While the 10 ft for taking travel is nice he is wondering if there isnt something to help with his ranged damage?

Yep. Rapid Shot and a Strength-adjusted bow... and smart Favoured Enemy choice.

Travel's a good Cleric domain, but it doesn't do a lot for the Inquisitor, who doesn't get the spells associated with it. What are the domains allowed for his deity?

Exploration,Fate Inquisition,Freedom and we were thinking about making a domain of hunting or some such. His deity is god of the hunt. He exemplifies rangers pretty much. Perhaps closer to a spirit of the hunt.He has archery style with point blank shot as his first feat from it. His other feats right now are rapid shot.Precise shot ,Wep focus Gbow,Improved Init and combat reflexes. If anyone has a good idea for a hunting domain ability feel free to share. Also if someone has better feat ideas he is totally open. And thanks for all the help guys. He will be really happy if we can get this char to work right.

Well... after all you've said... you know, he could go full ranger with a 1 (maybe ") level dip Inquisitor.

1 level gives you the Domain, Judgement, Monster Lore, Orisons and Stern Gaze. All pretty good, pretty useful things.

2 levels gives you all that plus Cunning Initiative and Detect alignment (Good cherry picks). Not to mention BAB, a couple of first level spells and saves.

Then you go full ranger and get all the free combat feats, favourite enemies, terrain and, eventually, crappy spellcasting. The good thing about ranger is the good BAB and the *free* animal companion you will get al char level 6 (I recomend some kind of bird, for scouting).
