Good level 1-3 adventure/module for a group of 12 year old noobs?

First Post
My son has asked me to DM a game of AD&D for him and his three friends. It has been twenty years since I last played the game seriously. I am hoping (having been referred over here to you knowledgeable folks) that you can recommend some good premade modules that would introduce the game to a group of bright 12 year olds who have grown up with MMoRPGs and Harry Potter.

Something fairly easy but with a good plot. Something for a mixed group. Something with lots of action but where using your brain might be better than the sword. I would love to download the adventure but expect to pay.

At the moment they are doing "The Burning Plague" (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20000801a) and LOVING it. I am hoping for something a bit more complex for them.

Thanks in advance.

LOL, see how old I am? I know AD&D well, but I am trying to learn 3.5. However, CLERICS MUST USE BLUNT WEAPONS!!!!!!

Ok better now. I could adapt the module if it's an old one, but I would prefer a 3.5 module.

Download Wizards Amulet from Necroamncergames.com

Forget learning 3E, go straight to Castles and Crusades. ITs old D&D with the d20 mechanic of positive AC's and saving throws that makes sense, in comparison to old D&D. Plus you don't have 30 books of conflicting, deleted, rewritten rules to ever worry about, just the PH and the Monsters and Treasures book.

I played 3E for 5 years. Now I play C&C, old school fun and enjoyment of the game that got lost in the 3E games, and simple rules. Can't beat that. Plus with C&C your old material is extremely compatible. They will stay in boxes for 3E.

Plus Gary Gygax is writing Castle Greyhawk (as Castle Zagyg) for C&C.

I kinda like the adventures put out by Goodman Games. They have some of the old 1eAdnd feel and are written for d20 rules, etc. Might give them a look! :)

Or if you don't want to take that advice (I've been playing 3.0 and 3.5 since they've came out- and have had a blast. Wizards has some decent adventures on their site

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20030530b

Some are for 3.0, some are for 3.5- and they're pretty decent- but tend to be shorter, good for one... maybe 2 sessions.

The Sunless citadel was a 3.0 adventure that was really pretty cool. I'm sure there's a 3.5 update for it somewhere. It had a fair amounf of combat, with startegies and a few puzzles thrown in- and a rather engaging plot all things considered.

Every Goodman Games module can be downloaded from RPGNow, DrivethruRPG.com and ENWorld's own PDF store.

Free modules from Necromancer: http://necromancergames.com/freestuff.html

If the kids like Harry Potter, check out Redhurst: http://www.humanhead.com/adventure/redhurst/index.html

The Player's Guide to Redhurst (free) has everything they need, and the actual book (for the DM) only adds stats for spells and NPCs and such. There are free adventures for Redhurst on the Human Head site. You might also check out Dungeon Interludes for Goodman Games for additional Redhurst adventures and Dungeon magazine will have a Harry Potter-themed adventure in an upcoming issue.

WoW that looks great. Best part is I can peruse it for free. Thanks. I love that setup.

Nifty...at Whizbang's (stalking me now WB?) suggestion I got that big book full but they seem a bit hack and slash.

I was here first! Snapdragyn is around here somewhere, too.

And Goodman adventures are pretty hack-and-slashy, but the longer ones in particular have some puzzles in them, some of them pretty evil.

When I was in elementary school/middle school, hack and slash (plus traps) was about my speed.
