Good online site to buy hardback RPG books?

Well, I just returned from the local used book store and spent $130 on used RPG books, all of it WotC stuff. Anyway, saved around $80, plus I scored 1 or 2 OOP books, so not bad. Still, I didn't really find what I was looking for and was a bit disappointed, since this was suppossed to be my big splurge of spending for a while.

Anyways, I just thought I would look online for the heck of it and checked out Amazon's site. I found some really good deals there, almost all of them better than what I found at the local used book store. I didn't figure in shipping costs (I live in Hawaii), but I still think I would have saved more by buying from Amazon. The deals I found were mainly from the "used" section or from "resellers" that had a star-rating next to their name.

That being the case, I think the next time I splurge, I will definately splurge online to get a better deal. *sigh*

That being the case, anyone got any recommendations besides Amazon? I'm looking for a reputable, safe-place to purchase books, as well as good deals.

I always check Price Owl. They list a number of online sources, and can really find you the best price.

The only downside is that the best price usually comes from Buy.com or Walmart, and if you are morally opposed to places like that, it can be a bit of an ethical quandry... :\

A few I know about:

www.frpgames.com - they offer 20-30% discounts on most stuff and they have a very good seleciton.

www.alldirect.com - they offer better discounts than Amazon but have less of the d20 publishers. Also, they charge fro shipping on orders less than $100.

www.stiggybaby.com - lots of stuff on discounts

www.walmart.com they only carry WotC and a few other d20 products but have very good discounts.

and of course...

www.ebay.com

I used to look at www.buy.com but they're selection seemed poor the last few times I checked.

Overstock.com is rumored to have some excellent prices at times, with reasonable shipping. Sometimes it ends up being cheaper on amazon or another website, but I've often had reliable prices from this website.

On another note, occationally Amazon has goofed on a price for a book or two. The Dragon Lance Campaign Setting, and more recently the humans/half-humans WotC racial book were priced 10 and 15 dollars lower than they should have been.

Check out www.nobleknight.com

I've been dealing with them for years now. While they aren't as cheap as Amazon, they still sell at a discount, and they're quick and just all around great people to deal with.

I have never had any problems with them and usually get the stuff in a week here in Oz.

I would recommend them indeed.

stiggybaby, overstock and walmart. In that order. Used to do Amazon until they shafted me on a large order and decided to play "big boy on the block" instead of good customer service/satisfaction/fairness.

Whoah, there are way better book search engines than those listed here. They are general book trade engines, so they'll hit and miss with RPG products as all the sites they search hit and miss, but they are quite wide-ranging.

www.addall.com
www.bookfinder.com
www.bestbookbuys.com (also finds dvds, music, etc.)
www.abebooks.com (Not a search engine but a site with the largest collection of independent booksellers in the world. You'll find that for used books in general, you'll end up here most of the time.)

Hope these are helpful to somebody.

Wow, nine posts in and no "save the FLGS" rants yet! Not bad! I've also had good experiences with buy.com; I bought the ELH for $14 there. Although that was an error on their part, frankly, that I took advantage of.
