and not necesarily punk, but they do punk on occasion: Emily's Toybox. They're a local band from Pennsylvania and pretty good. www.emilystoybox.com free mp3's and stuff. Don't discount the name of the songs either, although they cover stuff that is not punk, if you listen to the songs they sort of punk em out a bit.

They can also be heard as part of the RPG publishing gauntlet with louis porter, who picked them as band of the week last week.

Man, now I need to go listen to the soundtrack. Thanks. :)

You're welcome. :)

According to the IMDB, they're both 1984. I guess that was the good year for punk movies.

They tried to bill Times Square as punk movie when it came out, but I think it's very new wave, not punk. Well, maybe New Wave and Punk-lite.

Unless I missed it in my quick scan through this thread, I can't believe no-one has mentioned Stiff Little Fingers yet, AFAIC the best punk band of all time (at least from their first two albums anyway).

Also some other bands I enjoyed in my mis-spent youth (that I don't think have been mentioned) are Anti-pasti, ChronGen, The Undertones, Action Pact, Zounds, Vice Squad, Abrasive Wheels, Chelsea and the Anti-Nowhere League. These were all bands active in the UK in the (very) early 80s.

Another band you might enjoy are The Professionals, who (IIRC) included two members of the Pistols.

Here's a link to info on some of the bands above:

Ok I just listened to some Dead Kenndys songs and there good so what CD of their's would you guys suggest I get first? Also for the Clash where on the internet can I listen to their music? For some reason both my regular sites Windows media player media guide and Grammy.ru don't have any of their songs. Ok somewhat unrelated but I have to know are the Dead Kennedys Punk or New Wave?

I'd categorized them as "punk", but I'm not a big fan of genre labels. I think The Clash are hard to pin down as exclusively punk, apart from their first 2 albums. London Calling and Sandinista really branch out into other styles. With Sandinista you get a little bit of everything, which is why it's definitely in my top 10 of all-time, any genre. Don't know where to download their music though.

Dead Milkmen
Suicidal Tendencies

I recently saw The Vandals and Goldfinger play with Flogging Molly at the county fair here in L.A. What a surreal experience that was.
