Goodies from Goodman: Castle Whiterock

Over on the Goodman Games forum last night they announced a new 500 page box set called Castle Whiterock. The announcement included a large image (cover I'm sure) that includes what looks to be the White Witch, a red dragon, a lich, dwarf king, ogre mage and rashaka imposed over an adventure group fighting a distrachen and dwarves.
Here's the link:

The poster said it should be ready for GenCon.

If you like running pre-made mega-adventures, 2007 will be a great year!

That actually looks pretty sweet.

I wonder though, how long it'll take to saturate the market for mega-modules. I mean, I love them, but one can only use so many.

If I live and game to the age I hope too, I don't have enough yet.

I hate to say this, because these days you almost always run into artists online, but the cover art doesn't look very good to me. The white haired person on the left has the face of a man, but an implausible female physique (incredibly skinny, but at the same time, incredibly top heavy). The poses of the other people are stiff. The rest is good, though not great.

Considering they get some legendary artists for the regular DCCs, you'd think they'd have gone with one of those.

Rappan Athuk and the World's Largest Dungeon are the only two complete mega-dungeons published that I know of. (Well, there is Castle Blackmoor, but that product has some major issues.)

There are mega-campaigns (Ptolus, Shackled City, The Drow War, etc.), but they take place in multiple locations.

I think there is room for more good mega-dungeons.

You haven't been exposed to enough people. I don't have a match for the face but I know a girl in Sierra Vista with the same body build.

That or your used to seeing art with the "standard" body types. This guy probably based his on a real life model.

He is also the artist of the DCC 1 second printing cover. Probably a few others, I haven't checked. I don't pay that much attention to art. I figure since they all can draw/paint about 1,000 times better than I can I have no "position" from which to be critical.

I do like the dragon "bust" a good bit.
