Goodman Games to publish a 4e print magazine under the GSL

I'd like to see what Games Workshop would do with the D&D brand (as opposed to 4E in particular). Their rules may not be very tight, but their flavour's great and the minis would be beautiful.
Based on previous behaviour GW would build up the D&D brand until the game was really successful and selling in better numbers than ever, and then they'd stop producing it, announce it wasn't profitable enough, and sell off the rights to somebody else.

For those of you intersted in buying the magazine but afraid your LGS will not carry it, I have this suggestion. Why not simply ask the manager, owner, seller if they will have it and that you are interested in getting it. If they see that people are interested in that product, there is more chance that they will order it.

At my FLGS, if I'm interested in something that the owner doesn't think would sell, he will usually only get 1 or 2 copies so that he doesn't get stuck with product that will gather dust on the shelves.

Seriously? I love Goodman's products, but they would not be able to carry the brand at all. They don't have the employees, infrastructure, nothing. Wizards' products are of extremely high quality. I have no idea what you are all talking about.

As for the magazine, great news! I hope it does well.

I´m really interested if they manage to push the magazine into enough sales slots. Its hard to convince retailers to "make space" for another publication, and i hope Goodman can pull it off.
This is what this topic is about. A print magazine from Goodman Games and our hopes, fears or predictions for it.

In other news, people on ENworld continue to play THEIR favourite version of D&D while hoping that YOUR favourite version of D&D is sold, discontinued or changed into THEIR favourite version of D&D. Business as usual.
But why is about this instead for some?*

A good observation and description, btw, but I am not allowed to give you XP yet again. ;)

Have you noticed the volume of 4E stuff Goodman is doing? They are full speed ahead.

As to them not being able to carry the brand - maybe not today, but don't underestimate Joe Goodman. :)

Awesome! 2 bucks a month, you bet I'll subscribe. Hopefully their character options are as in-line with the books as Dragon's are.

Level Up will provide a wide range of D&D 4th Edition content, including new monsters, character options, an adventure in every issue, and even a “Dear Archmage Abby” column.

What else would you guys like to see in that magazine?

Hi all,

I'm the editor-in-chief for Level Up, so I'll try to answer any specific questions I can here.

To start, here's a quick peek at some of the features - many of which are reoccurring - that will appear in issue one.

  • Azagar’s Advice for Adventurers – Choose Your Weapon Part I
  • A Picture Tells 1,000 Words – Spurned
