Goodman Games to publish a 4e print magazine under the GSL

I hope there are ads. I miss the ads from Dragon. It's one of the few places where there are ads targeted at *me* not random placements, or a wild guess as to something I'll be interested in.

As long as the content is at least decent I'll be subscribing (please don't be foolish and not allow a subscription), I may get subscriptions for all my players as well just to support a print magazine.

I guarantee you will get your money's worth for content...and then some. The first issue has at least 32 pages of solid content (issue one is coming in at around 48 pages total, actually).

Great question. Yes, some features in the magazine will tie into Goodman products occasionally, but the goal of Level Up is to provide 4E material useful for all gamers, not just those that buy Goodman products. The vast majority of the articles will be setting neutral, and even those that do tie into Goodman products or Aereth will still be useful for any player or DM.

Sound Good. Will there be mail subscriptions available and where is the paypal link for them? :p

I wonder if they will allow WotC to advertise in it so they can have a print magazine opportunity to reach that segment of the market? ;)

I think they are almost certain to have ads, and given that WOTC is buying ads in Kobold Quarterly, I think it's highly likely that the'll be in Level Up too.

How about a trade? WOTC can advertise in it - right after they release the revised GSL we've been waiting months for... :)

Could you tell us some more about the Death Dealer thing?

Yeah --- it was a low magic setting, based off of the comic books. Essentially martial classes, without much in the way of magic items. The first "scene" had us patrolling a mountainous ridge and discovering a band of refugees fleeing up the slope towards us, chased by an undead army (from the comic book). We had to hold the pass by occupying a ruined keep and using the keep's defenses against the undead army long enough for the refugees to escape. But that left us behind enemy lines ... chapter 2, I guess.

It was fun because of the focus on martial, low magic; the use of critical hits; and the massive isometric battlemap. And because the scenes went a lot like this:

Hmm I wasn't interested in Death Dealer before... I think I might be sold now though. That's sounds interesting.
